How’s your SWR on that comet 2x4sr? Mine wasn’t that good in that spot. This little compact and inexpensive unit works quite well as my trail ham. Much better than my yaesu handheld, as expected.

Probably not great. But I only use it for trail com with my group so I never checked. Also didn't have many option with the way the rig is built out. How’s your SWR on that comet 2x4sr? Mine wasn’t that good in that spot.
Oh ok. I keep trying different antennas but the best one for SWR and receive signal quality is my Larsen NMO270.Probably not great. But I only use it for trail com with my group so I never checked. Also didn't have many option with the way the rig is built out.
I've used just about every dual band amateur NMO mount antenna and the open coil Larsen NMO270 is the best of them all for maximum range.Oh ok. I keep trying different antennas but the best one for SWR and receive signal quality is my Larsen NMO270.

I got the Compactenna to try but RX has a lot of noise. Didn’t bother to check SWR on it.I've used just about every dual band amateur NMO mount antenna and the open coil Larsen NMO270 is the best of them all for maximum range.

Looks like I'm spending more money lolOh ok. I keep trying different antennas but the best one for SWR and receive signal quality is my Larsen NMO270.
I've done a lot of testing with COMPACtennas and they work surprisingly well for their size. The newer versions for 2m/440, multiband scanner and multiband LMR are about 9" long and work about as good as a full size 1/4 wave whip on each band. That's very remarkable that a 9" antenna will hold its own against a 19" whip on VHF. The older versions that are about 7" long have slightly worse performance on VHF.I got the Compactenna to try but RX has a lot of noise. Didn’t bother to check SWR on it.
Thanks for sharing. I installed the overhead Molle a few weeks ago and am planning to install both a GMRS and CB soon.![]()
here's mine
Yup, that's pretty sick. Most people will say you've gone too far. I say you have finally arrived, congratulations!![]()
