Mismatched Spare Tire

Dropped my spare tire down today to change to a BFG KO2 spare to match the tires that I put on when I got my Overland.
Now, Overlands come with 18" wheels and tires, But the spare I dropped down is a 245-75-17 tire, yet the wheel is stamped 18x6!
WTH is going on?

Yeah, we're going to need a picture of this. I know they have a 17" spare, I'm questioning the rim markings

How could the factory screw up like this? Would the tire be ok to remount on a 17" wheel?
I didn't plan on using the tire or wheel as I went to 35's, but thought I would give it to some one that could.

Either the wheel is mismarked or you are reading wrong. If they successfully mounted a 17" tire on an 18" wheel the bead would have ruptured long before they got it under the truck

They all have a 17-in spare that's the common size for all models
