I’m sad to say that I’ve been in conversations with people that have said a number of foolish and ignorant statements before I ever owned my Mojave. So, why would I be surprised to continue to hear new foolish and ignorant things after I purchase a new midsized truck (a Mojave) from people who don’t stop to ask what qualities I was looking for in a vehicle (easier to park in narrow spots for my occasional requirement to work downtown, a handy pickup box, easy open sky conversion (sun rider), off roading entertainment, etc)? As well, it’s always a bit amusing to reflect upon the types of foolish and ignorant statements that come from people who’s eyes are closed to their own foolishness that they choose to live with in their life. So, why be guided or triggered by a fool who can’t seem to help themselves?

Still, I’d like to continue to see improvements and I’d appreciate the option of a V8 regardless of the politics. I actually started a thread asking about rumors as I figured it would be a nice sweet spot for a few of us likeminded to pin conversations about it to. Still, in some ways, it turned into a debate about EV and turbo six and other stuff that I frankly don’t care about. Simply put, some would like a v8 option like a 5.7, but if you don’t, then move on. For all the reasons Jeep wasn’t going to do it, they also reversed their position and put a big monster in the wrangler likely due to market pressures. So, it could happen with the JT too.

Btw, I previously drove a 2018 Xlt super crew 4wd 3.5 eco. It was a good truck in many ways, but it was also larger than what I needed MOST of the time. I honestly preferred it a bit more on the highway over long trips, but I’ve since gotten accustomed to the seemly lesser luxury of my Mojave on my occasional highway trips. As for the majority of my in town driving, I certainly prefer the Mojave’s supple suspension to a pothole strike as well as the very enjoyable cruising to stops throughout town. So, for my pros and cons calculation, the Mojave is the better choice for me at the present.

My previous truck was an F250 diesel that I bought primarily to haul my boat. When I started keeping my boat at a marina I downsized to the JT. It fits way better in my garage, has adult sized back seats, is way easier to park, and gives you the option of doing fun Jeep stuff like removing the doors. The bed isn’t huge but it’s perfect for home improvement and hauling wet stuff like life jackets home from the lake. I’m very happy I made the switch.

I have owned multiple Wranglers before so I knew what I was getting into by going back to a Jeep, but I daily drove a '15 Silverado LTZ for 6 years before I traded it in for the Gladiator. Honestly, the Gladiator is really perfect sized IMO. A lot more room than my previous Wranglers, which were all 2 doors by the way, but a lot easier to park in our narrow driveway and parking spots. I don't think anyone in the family really notices it being much smaller even on road trips. The kids still have roughly the same room they did before as does my wife and I up front. The only time it feels cramped is when we bring the dogs (50lbs and 70lbs). They usually ride in the bed now if we all go because of the cab constraints. The Overland has almost all of the same creature comforts my LTZ had as well minus the cooled and powered seats. Otherwise everything else is basically the same options which is a huge plus.

I don't tow often, but when I do it's not very heavy and I haven't had any issues. The payload has been my biggest issue as I do notice the difference when loading up the bed and the rear squatting. Also the constraint of the narrow 5' bed is more noticeable than I thought it would be also. Other than that, I'm very happy with the trade.

Hello! I have a 2021 F150 and I am very very tired of driving a full size pickup every day. I love the Gladiator but my jeep friends and my wife all hate it. I dont get the hate. I want a mojave / rubicon and there are few locally.

Question - anyone come over from full size? I don't tow. I just use the bed for mountain bikes and household stuff. Also, why the hate!??
I did not read all the pages, went from OP to this response.

My pickup history is numerous HiLux pickups, then '84 S10, '90 F250 extended cab 2wd, 460" tow vehicle, 2003 K2500 Duramax, 2013 K3500 duallie Duramax. I stopped farming 5 years ago, but still play with race cars and hot rods; I use my trucks.
I love my Gladiator. It is an 85% vehicle. It can do almost everything any other vehicle can do but at 85%. It off-roads 85% as good as a 2 door Wrangler, it fits 85% of the people as a crew-cab, the bed is .....well.....not 85% as big as a 8 foot bed, it tows up to 7,000 lbs at 85% as good as the Chevys (only 30% as good as the F250 ;)) It is at least 85% easier to park and drive through small towns/cities etc.. My wife will even drive it, no question and she drives a '71 Super Beetle.
I have about 6,000 miles towing a 16' camper that is full height and width. Once you realize that it is a small high revving 6 cylinder that likes to spin upwards of 3,000 RPM unlike a big block that will pull at 1,800 RPM, life is fine. Let it spin, keep it at 65 mph and get 14 mpg when towing. When empty, roll at 75 mph and get 19+mpg.

Drive it. How often is your truck bed full?

Having a hard time getting rid of my 2019 RAM 1500 Crew Cab 4X4 and getting a Gladiator. I keep looking at the Gladiator High Altitude as a replacement vehicle, but having a hard time pulling the trigger. I guess I like the High Altitude Model as a possible replacement because of its street looking features, painted bumpers, painted mirrors, painted door handles, 20" tires and wheels, all good looking street looking features. Not looking to go off road, just street cruising.

I too just traded my F150 after many years of owning various F150’s for a 2020 Gladiator High Altitude and absolutely love it. Like you, I don’t tow. I use the bed on occasion. I enjoy driving my Gladiator v. just driving my F150. And, I haven’t even had the top off yet. No regrets here

Yeah …it’s not a Jeep crowd. LOL. Watch how upset the other guys get when your non-Jeep tackles obstacles that theirs struggle with. Those that say this only wish they had a Gladiator. ?

Ask me anything ……Wife liked the JT so much she traded in her Exploder coming from a FX4 for a JL.

Yes, her JL can keep up with the JT ?

I also did not read all the pages. I respect when people are considering a Gladiator and they actually ask real questions to real owners. My 2 cents...

Going from a solid F150 to a Mojave JT is like having your cute neighbor girl as a girlfriend then starting to date a hot red head with some manageable quirks. Put some wheels on it and you'll be a rock star. The boxy design of the truck just begs for wheels and larger tires.

The JT is a convertible truck that can go off-road with the best of them. It's purpose is entirely different than the F150. I have two boys - a 12 and a 6 year old - and both have already claimed my JT when they're 16. Like the hot red head - it gets attention. Young and old - male and female. I have yet to meet someone who doesn't like my Gladiator. People take pictures of it (not a joke).

I don't tow, but I haul plenty of crap and sports gear and don't feel the need for a full-size.

Down sides: I have taken it on long trips and my off road tires are not ideal for long travel. The 3.6L V 6 is adequate, but not the level of the Ecoboost V6. I'd imagine coming from a full-size, the interior (and bed) will feel tight.

Having had a JL I think I’ll get used to interior quick. I just always have wasted space in the truck. That said, the Ecoboost is a rocket compared
To the pentastar. That said I have a Camaro ss if I want to go fast

How about rear facing car seat and leg room? My wife is 5’3 and I’m 6 foot.
No problem at all for us. My wife and I are pretty much the same size.

The one big thing I can say, is the JT does not compare to a full size truck, totally wrong segment. The JT is a mid-sized truck, and needs to be compared to the Colorado/Canyon, Ranger, and Tacoma. That said, show me a mid size that is as capable as the JT is out of the factory. They all have similar specs, power and options... They all have similar performance and economy... Option for option, they are all similar in price... But then you add in the Jeep stuff a JT can do like remove the doors and top, walk you through some of the most difficult places, etc.... There's just no comparison!

I traded a 2017 GMC canyon 2wd for my O'land, parked next to each other, the size was almost the same. Interior they were nearly identical in space, fit and finish. Mileage and power were very similar. The JT handled and rode MUCH better! I never had my son, now 8, say "Daddy I love your truck" about the GMC... This meme is so true...

I came out of 2015 F150 Platinum with lift kit and 35's.

My wife thought I was nuts. The F150 was absolutely loaded down to massaging front seats.

I have no regrets. I love my Mojave!
