It comes with a skid plate. I used theirs as the original skid plate would need some tweaking to fit.

Any issues installing with the Mojave skid plate for the reservoirs?

If not, I'm going to call Rock Hard and see if they can make me one without the bar

You can’t use the Mojave skid plate. The rock hard bumper has the skid plate built in.

Understood - thanks for the quick reply!

Now I just need to convince RH to make an aluminum rear bumper for the JT, too

Already tried that?. They did not listen to me. Ended up buying their rear steel one. Truck still has a good stance with it but it would’ve sure been nice to have aluminum. It’s really easy to install the front bumper by yourself, rear steel required some family member assistance.

Interesting. I’m going to carefully study those photos to see how sturdy the rear corners look. My first impression (on a phone) is that you’d want to keep the steel Rubicon corner sliders. Which obviously wouldn’t be ideal for potential overall weight savings.

Same could be said for the heavy steel factory receiver - an integrated aluminum bumper and hitch could possibly save 40-50 lbs. But that would get into possible safety concerns with tow rating etc that corner sliders don’t, so I doubt we’ll see that

Since the 24 Mojave’s have a steel bumper I’m curious to see if they have different spring in them.

The removable outers weigh 17lbs, the center section only weighs 53lbs. The plastic bumper weighs 32lbs. If I recall the front springs are around 150lbs/in. That 21lb difference spread across the front springs will result in .07" of sag. You definitely couldn't see it with the naked eye, it would be hard to measure with a tape if you moved the jeep at all between bumper swaps. Even with the ends in place you're only looking at .13" of sag.

I'm also interested in an aluminum front bumper for my Mojave to keep the weight off.. The Rock Hard seems like a good option with the integrated skid plate and shackle attachment points. It being aluminum, would it deform if using the attachment points, or deform easily if impacted? Does anyone have any experience?

I was also looking at the MP concepts, as I do like the stock bumper (unsure if it would work with the factory skid). I wonder about the quality as I saw a photo on this forum where it imploded on a front impact (but we don't know the circumstances). Might not be a bad thing as maybe you get an extra crumple zone?

Barricade also makes an aluminum bumper (see extreme terrain site)

While not aluminum, I am also keeping the Rugged Ridge Arcus on the radar as it is a lighter steel option, but I'm not a fan of the stubby. Then part of me says go with a Mopar steel take off but I don't want to deal with the sag.

Now you had to mention there is an aluminum rear bumper with bed skids... I wonder how that will hold up as that is where the JT's generally the the hits when offroading. For the rear, I was more receptive for a Rubicon steel take off.

Ugh so many choices....

At least this forum keeps my wallet light, lol!!!!
