So I just got a new Mojave and did not purchase it for mileage but I expected better. My JLUR with 3.6L averages around 16.3 for my normal driving with heavy beadlock aftermarket wheels and heavy mud tires. It doesn't seem to matter how much I drive the MPG on the cluster always seems to settle around 16.3MPG. My new JT Mojave has been averaging 14MPG. The other day going 70 down a flat highway it was yielding 14.5MPG. My JLUR would fetch me around 19MPG in this scenario. Truck is brand new and completely stock with a factory bed cover. Has about 400 miles on it now. Should I be concerned or is this the norm?
You will also need to learn to learn it and its quirks honestly. One thing I noticed is once I figured out the cruise control and how to best play with the auto start/stop feature in here my average went from around 14 to a solid 17-18 average.

I even get 11.6 towing a 6k travel trailer.

To add to the data, I'm averaging ~16.5 on my Mojave since new. All highway has yielded as high as 19-ish. All stock with bedcover.

What tires ? What pressure ? What speed ? What is the wind doing ? Into the wind is a killer.

MT tires will lose you 1 or 2 MPG at speed ... Anything over 70 and MPG drops off a lot. Pressure Lower than 37PSI lowers MPG.

I saw 21MPG for a bit the other day when the wind died down and I kept it at a steady 70 ... Then back down to 19 or 20.

There is nothing inherent about the mojave (maybe a few very minor things).

Lifted an inch
Plate on front to protect shock reservoirs
M/T tires
Hood scoop that goes no where

Want to see over 20 consistently ?

Fully aired up AT tires with low rolling resistance
Set cruise control at 65
Calm day
Tonneau cover can help a little

24 ? Meh. I hear about this and only believe that it requires magic pixie dust or running a slight downhill grade for a long way.

Also, some of the base models have 3.73 axle and Highway tires stock ... That is good for a few MPG I would think .. But most guys dont leave them that way ...

Not uncommon for me. Stock sport S, bed cover 3:37 diff. It's pretty flat here also which helps and I usually cruise around 67mph..

What size and type of tires ? What Pressure ? Are they standard highway truck type ?
I'd need to look. It's whatever came on there stock.. Typically I run about mid way between the pressure stated on the door plackard and max pressure on the sidewall. I've been doing that for years and never have wear issues. They wear perfectly all the way to the wear bars.

Ok that makes sense .. This thread was about Mojave MPG. All Mojave's come with 33 inch tires and most come with M/T tires .. They also come with 4.10 rear end gear ratios ...

You are running sport tires, over pressure, no front end lift, no protection plate, under 70MPH, with 3.73 gears ...

Everything is different ... Thus the totally different result ...

As far as your over pressure tires and the justification of good results over time, I say good for you and to each his own ...

That being said, you are running over pressure. The sidewall pressure is irrelevant to what pressure "should be run" ... The door sill numbers are calculated based on the weight of the vehicle and the volume of air in the size of tire the vehicle came with ... Calculated ...

Half way between that number and the sidewall number is extremely over pressure ... And I can see that you would get way lower rolling resistance doing so ...

Those pressures will definitely serve good gas mileage ... They wont serve you well off road obviously ...

But as I said, your truck, your rules ...

Extreme overpressure? LOL.

Door sticker is 36, max sidewall is 44. I'm basically running 4psi over door pressure.

Omit the word "Extremely" ...

You are running over pressure ... About 12% over if ya wanna get technical ...

Its over ... Great on the highway Id expect ...

Driving habits will make MUCH more of a difference in MPG than any trim level.

Overall, I'd give it a few thousand miles to break in, watch your speeds and start habits, and see where it ends up before getting too concerned.

My around town, i would say 50/50 highway/local gets me about 16-16.5 MPG. All highway depends on the terrain, going up the NY State Thruway, 17, up/down the NJ Turnpike/Parkway, 20 MPG all day long.

I didn't see much of a difference between <1000 miles and >3000 miles in terms of MPG.

I cannot stress enough how much of a differnce working the auto-start/stop and cruise control to your advantage will make.

Note: For those outside the northeast, the NY State Thruway is hilly to mountainous while the NJ roads are mostly flat

I'm very knowledgeable in hypermiling and that is why I was concerned. 70MPH on a very flat stretch, little wind, 40PSI MT.
