As has been said, there are bumpers that will work with the factory skid.

My question is; Why do you think you need it? It really doesn’t protect much. If you’re worried about the reservoirs, you can relocate them fairly easily, however I have done some fairly difficult rocks and never even got close to mine in the stock location.

I recently moved from the fab fours stubby with no skid plate to the Barnes 4x4 with a skid plate. The Barnes skid plate does little to protect the reservoirs.

I made a post and small write up about the Barnes here:

And here is a better pic of the reservoir.

Rugged Ridge Spartacus. No problems, bolted right up.

+1 for the Spartacus. Currently don't have a winch in it but I'm planning on adding one next time HF has a sale. I'm running it full width and the bar

Yes, I chose a stubby bumper that required modification of the skid. I initially left the skid off, but you really do want those shock reservoirs protected I noticed, so I had it cut and reinstalled.

That said, I have access to a number of custom shops here that had that ability (metal fabrication) for very little additional cost. It's relatively easy to do, so don't let that skid determine what you can put on the front. Pick what you like and make it fit.

...or leave it off. I was not comfortable seeing those reservoirs hanging down, but opinion on this forum thought it would be okay (general consensus).

LOD signature series fits with the skid plate.
If you remove the skid, you have to relocate the reservoirs.

One of my first mods is replacing the front bumper to a stubby. I noticed that the Mojave edition has a special front skid plate. For anyone Mojave owners, two quick questions:
1. Did you have to remove that skid plate?
2. if you were able to keep the OEM skid plate on, did you have any limitations with the bumper that you chose because of the OEM skid plate?

Thanks!
I kept my skid and painted it satin black, with my Arcus bumper and Warn winch. Looks great, functions great, and well, it was free (the skid)! No issues on install, no grinding or cutting, nothing.

Just went from plastic stock bumper to steel Mopar stubby. Had to trim bumper for stock Mojave skid plate to fit, have bottom 2 bolts firmly in, but top 2 bolts don't reach nor line up. So I left front 2 off.

I have an ARB Classic stubby on my Mojave. Skid fit with no modifications. The bumper lines and skid plate match up.

All depends on the bumper. I installed the Rugged Ridge Arcus and the stock skid fit perfect!

Thanks for all the responses everyone! Looks like the Arcus is a pretty popular bumper that bolts right on. It was one of the bumpers I was looking at to begin with, so that may be the one!

Once I finish the wrap, that bumper is next in line.

Can anyone tell me if there was any issues with the airbag sensors after you new bumper install?

I was questioning if this a concern I should have?
