Hey folks, a new member. Been on the search for a JT for over 3 years now. I was in the process of getting married, completing home renovations (not your minor paint and flooring upgrades) and traveling a lot. This past year I've been away from home over 4 months, so to say I've been searching hard for a JT would be a lie.

Anyway, I've been getting serious about it for the past month. Visited dealerships 6 or 7 times. Built and priced with options a couple times, really determining what I can live without and at a price I can live with. But I've really been gunning for a manual. After deciding on an Overland, I discovered that the Overland is not offered with a manual for 2023. Finally decided on a Sport S with quite a few options, but it ended up being more than the priced out Overland (???). Only one dealer (Superior CDJR) had offered to order it, so I went there. Built it again, the way I wanted... the salesman headed the paperwork to a manager, but came back and said they can't order a manual; I would have to wait until the 2024 is released and try again. Leaving really disappointed, I knew I didn't want a 2024. I'm not fond of the interior changes I've seen on the Wrangler and expected it to be the same.

So I started searching online after work one morning. Within half an hour, I found a very close match to what I wanted in Oklahoma. Brand new manual in sting grey with 5 miles on it, except it was a Rubicon. After seeing the price, which was less than the highly optioned Sport S or the Overland I built, I immediately thought "Nah, there's no f**ing way". Called about it, and they said it seems to be in stock but not on their website (found it on another website). He said to give him an hour and he would call me back. After an hour, another salesman calls me back and says that it is in stock and that the price is correct. However, they can't sell it to me yet since the manual is under recall with no fix expected until September. I explained to him how long I've been searching and this was "the one". I asked if there was any way I could put a retainer on it, since I didn't mind waiting another couple months.

Long story short, I have a brand new 2023 Rubicon on retainer for less than I expected to pay for my Sport S. As soon as the recall is completed, I can go and pick it up.

Congrats! I searched around for quite a while to find another black 80th Anniversary after test driving one last year.
I was so lucky in that one showed up locally that already had the lift & tires I wanted

That's awesome! And thanks, it's only a 4 hour drive for me. I thought about doing a conjugal visit next weekend to go see it

Thank you! I'm more than ecstatic. The bad news is that I'll be spending money on both now. I'm buying it to also give my XK a break on the daily mileage. I know it's not a thoroughbred Jeep, but I love it. It's got all the bells and whistles (for what 2006 offered) and I just can't bring myself to get rid of it. It's also the last of a dying breed in V8 powered vehicles. Nevertheless, it needs a serious motor refresh and suspension/driveline work, so my plan is to pull the motor and drop the front end as soon as I pick up the JT

Exciting Times. I know I was pretty pumped about picking up mine on Monday of this week. So still a newbie to the JT but not to the XJ, ZJ, WJ, WK, WK2 & JKU lineups. I've owned them all

I am and am not a newbie to the JT. A very close buddy has a Gobi Rubicon and we have spent many hours in it and working on mods for it. My stable contains or has contained a Grand Waggy, TJ, 2x KJ Liberty's, JK, WJ, WK2 Trailhawk and now the JTR.

Congrats! I went from an Overland to a Rubicon and prefer the Rubi much more with all the extra bits.

Thanks, yeah the Overland was going to be in my price range, but there was just something about the stance of it. I drove it, I parked it, I stared at it in a mall parking lot from a distance, I drove it again, I parked and stared at it again (I'm a creature of habit :CWL:) but I just couldn't pull the trigger on it. But I am so glad I didn't, because it was quite pricey comparatively at the time. I'm learning to be patient in my "low" middle-age, but it's really hard lol
