Im running out of options here, I've been getting the "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" message since a few days after getting the transmission software update. Took it back to the dealership and they refreshed everything and it was good. Few days later, back on and back to the dealership, same fix and same result. I replaced my shifter a few days ago and it was fine, then came back on today. Seems like what triggers it is shifting into reverse or having a full tank of gas(sounds ridiculous i know). Never goes into limp mode, I've serviced the transmission myself, and the dealership has done it as well. At this point it has to be something electronic, because it drives fine. Any help is greatly appreciated

Sounds like the TCM is getting a "implausible" signal from the shift lever assembly. Need a scan tool that can monitor the SLA bit traffic and verify each gear selection bit data.

Its a manual transmission, would that still be the case?

Plausible. I am not up on manuals to much but attached the wiring diagram and it does have gear position circurty also feeding the PCM.

Keep in mind that this me just going off surface information provided and not looking at actual scan data in real time with the vehicle in front of me. I may be totally off on this.

Your dealership really has the tools to troubleshoot this more than trying to find a crowd source fix on the internet.

Do you know of any other symptoms off the top of your head that would align with your theory? Trying to really get this issue solved

Not off hand. I am surprised your dealership is not diving into this better as they actually have the tools to do so. They should have scan data or service data telling them what is setting that message.

I am limited on the service data I have for a manual without getting another TechAuthority subscription to find out which is not going to happen.

Yeah ive been to the dealership 5 different times now, left it with them for a week and went and picked it up after it sat the whole time. Same spot every time, hadn't moved (collection of debris from trees from a rain Strom the day after I dropped it off).

Maybe somebody else can chime in, but I do not think there is going to be a magic bullet fix to point out without some competent diagnostics which seems to be lacking from your local dealership it seems.

No longer the days when a manual only had a reverse switch for wiring.

Dude the shifter itself is suspended in air inside the cab if that tells you anything.

When I bought my 2020 Gladiator, I bought a couple 3 day Tech Authority subscriptions and print to PDF a bunch of service data of what I thought I would need. Mainly the wiring diagrams, Transmission, axle and little bit of engine stuff. What I have barely scratches the surface that is on there. It is like less than $30 last time I checked for a 3 day subscription and is well worth it if one is facing a complicated service job. Same data the dealership techs have access to.
