Hi All,

Just picked up a 2021 Sport S with the 6-speed to replace my aging Jeep Commander. To be honest, I haven't had a car payment in 20 years so moving to something newer was a mental and financial leap for me but I've wanted a JT for a while.

I plan to build out another overland rig, the Commander served me well on several cross-continental road trips/camping adventures. Unfortunately at almost 20 years old, and with 250,000 miles on the odometer the old rig was needing weekly maintenance. A cracked AC liquid line and a fumbled aluminum brazing job on my part was the last straw. This Sport S came up at the right price so I jumped on it. For sure I probably should have saved my pennies for a Rubicon but I can get pretty close by putting in upgrades as my budget allows. Besides, I'm 98% highway driving- overlanding for me is finding a forestry road and a decent pullout to camp overnight... and then hitting the road in the morning.

Anyhow, super excited to be part of the Gladiator club!

Congratulations & welcome.

I can assure you, for this purpose an unmodified Gladiator is absolutely fine.

I'd take stock and used to its full potential over a show rig any day. Prior to my JT, I had a 2017 JKU Sahara and my only 'mod' was a set of Cooper Rugged Treks. I never got stuck and it served me very well on our adventures.

As a fellow new Gladiator owner, with a few Jeeps over time I bought new. Although this 2024 Sport S has by far been the most expensive, the 95 Wrangler S was the least at $12,400 new! This is also by far the nicest overall Jeep, especially considering the live front axle, compared with the 2015 Cherokee V6 TrailHawk I bought new for $37k.

Welcome. I really liked the Commander when it was released, but never owned one. I'm guessing at 250,000 miles you got more out of yours than most, nicely done!
