Having taken mine apart personally, it is the single worst dashboard I have ever disassembled and I've done a few dozen different vehicles. Cheap doesn't begin to describe it, and I broke several of the stupid clips even taking great care with all the right tools. It was never the same after.

Knowing how I treat my own vehicles and how my fellow techs treated customer vehicles, I wouldn't let the dealership touch it until I had to. A dark cluster isn't going to make me crash and it's an excuse if you get pulled over.
I think you need to find a new hobby. Like, I dunno, play a guitar or something?

Has anyone actually had this problem?
I had my cluster replaced last year, but it was for the screen - it developed a line of dead pixels vertically.

Amen. I would hesitate to do it even when / if it died. Jeep / Stellantis designed and manufactured these vehicles to be as quick and easy to assemble as possible with ZERO s***s given about repairability. I get the concept and know it is now an industry standard to maximize profit. But, it scares me silly to think about someone on a clock doing warranty work and inducing God only knows how many rattles, creaks, and other noises into the dash. Nope.

Apparently this affects 2020-2024 Gladiators and 2018-2024 Wranglers. Why has it taking this long to surface as a recall? Still don't get the "voluntary" part. Can't we just get to enjoy our jeeps. I'm ready to trade this 2023 JT for a CJ5. Simpler times.

It's only the 3.5" clusters. My 7"cluster is not affected (so far).
its not the infotainment screen size, it is the 3.5 little screen between the speedo and tach

on these recalls, I wish owners had the option of installing the parts themselves

Voluntary means, if it breaks you won't crash and die, so it's up to you if you want to go through the hassle of getting it replaced.

Usually for these type of recalls, you will wait until the part malfunctions, then just get it fixed for free. The part has to be made available for the "service life" of the last model produced using it. So keep an eye on model changes for part availability.

With these recalls, federal law mandates the recall due to laws for warning lights etc.

For this it's an electronic circuit board. So they received a batch of clusters, and some in that batch malfunctioned due to a production error. They can't tell when the production error started or ended so the whole batch is getting recalled.

That doesn't mean your cluster is doomed to fail, it could be perfectly fine

Yeah used to be a drivability/electrical tech so I've had many dashes apart chasing down harness issues. It's one area where they don't make them like they used to very much applies. They've sacrificed repairability for quick assembly for years now.

Not talking about the infotainment screen. The cluster is different depending on the trim package. My Rubicon has a 7" cluster.

But at this time, the 7" cluster is not part of the recall.

This is my notice.

1000000931.jpg
I got so tired of taking the 2021 lemon Gladiator Jeep sold me I traded it in on a Tacoma. Glad I did. At least I won’t be back out at the dealer get the junk pile fixed for the 6th time in 3 years for engine failure, transmission failure and paint failure on a truck with 16,000 miles. First time I have been without a Chrysler product in 33 years and a Jeep product in 21 years. Sad thing is FCA doesn’t give a $?!&. All I wanted them to do was buy it back so I could get another one. They claim it did not meet lemon standard. I guess the bar for a lemon Jeep is quite high or they would be buying them all back. Jeep, where quality is job none. jeeps are now like their little sibling Fiat. Fix it again Tony.
