Has anyone ever tried daily driving without the front sway bar? Rolling on stuff billstein shocks and I'm wondering what it would be like.

Un-hook your front links and go for a drive.

I have done short drives before with my 5100s and my front sway bar disconnected - and you definitely know it's unhooked.

Is this still a thing from the YJ days?

Would would you ever want to do this on a coil spring rig?

Agreed! I had a sprung over YJ and ran without swaybars and it was a glorious ride. Tried to disconnect the old TJ and I felt squirrely and the cab felt like it was floating off of the chassis.

For a weekend I disconnected my front swaybar. I was on 60mph roads for ~30 minutes, then offroad for an hour, then back on road, etc.

Chat GPT told me anything above 16mph was dangerous which I'd write-off as a "California compliant" mindset. However I did find myself praying a deer wouldn't jump out in front of me at 60mph.

It wasn't unbearable but as a daily driver I wouldn't run like that all the time. For normal driving, fine, for expressways or emergency maneuvers, not fine. Anti-Rocks are probably a great middle ground.

If I had another daily and my Jeep was a designated "fun" vehicle I'd strongly consider keeping the sway bar disconnected, even if that "fun" driving wasn't all off-road.

Thanks everyone, I'll try it a little one day just to get to a local trail. I appreciate the input.

I had mine disconnected for a couple weeks. I was doing some work on the front end and finished everything except the sway bars. I had somewhere to go, so I figured I'd reconnect them another day. Another day turned into two weeks.

I tow trailers and live on rough roads so I definitely knew they weren't connected. Other than that and at a decent speed, I would've been fine.

I have disconnected with the Tazer JL Mini and driven around. It is completely doable if you are a skilled and defensive driver. The problem may occur when you don’t anticipate a problem and have to make an aggressive maneuver. I am professionally trained and have to qualify in emergency vehicle operations every year. I would not be worried about a roll-over. I would be worried about inducing a skid much sooner than I would with the swaybar connected.

You also have to be comfortable with the legal situation it may put you in. If you consulted with a personal injury or civil liability attorney, I am going to bet they would recommend against it.

Nothing better than a lifted Jeep on the skid pad. šŸ˜‚
