Exceeding absolutely means it met the criteria and went past it.... I'm calling BULLSHIT on the above post..... if it meets or exceeds then it should be noted on the produ t, that word salad screams it doesn't meet ms-12991
This is very true. I've been dealing with Amsoil since the late 1990s. They will list the MS-12991 spec if indeed their oil meets or exceeds specification. As a matter of fact, they agree that the Amsoil AFL MS is a better oil for the EcoDiesel, but it doesn't meet the Chrysler standard, so that's why they can't recommend it on their website.

I initially had some confusion because Valvoline's online app indicated the oil meets the specification for my vehicle, but the PDS didn't show MS-12991. I contacted Valvoline and requested clarification and they sent me a recommendation letter indicating it meets the requirements of MS-12991.
@jywolfe, we've had Valvoline 5w40 European Oil listed on the front page of this thread for a few years, but I'm glad that it still meets specs. Feel free to take samples and post your results.

I bought mine at Advanced Auto, but I don't know if they still carry them.

Anyone tried them?
I ordered 5 of them. They will be here tomorrow. I also plan to reach back out to Valvoline and ask for a technical spec sheet on the filter. At $10 per unit, five of them cost the same as one OEM Mopar. I've also been using the Ecoguard and have had zero issues, but if the unit from Valvoline turns out to be a ringer, that significantly brings down the cost of maintenance and I am operating two Ecodiesels and do short OCIs.

We have 2 also, so any savings is a good thing

That would definitely increase my oil change intervals.

I like to keep my workspace clean and organized. I live a busy life, so I'd be in trouble if I wasn't clean and organized.

Updates from Valvoline. I copied and pasted two separate emails below.

Thank you for contacting Valvoline Product Support,

For our European Full Synthetic 5W-40

Noack is 9.7%

SAPS 1.0 %

Unfortunately, we do not have a product information sheet to provide for Valvoline oil filter VO-207.

However, Valvoline filters are designed and guaranteed to meet OEM specs for form, fit and function when used in accordance with the vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations

Valvoline partnered with the leading industry engineers of US OEM filters to design and build the Valvoline Filtration line to the same exacting quality standards.

You may search Valvoline filter recommendations via year, make, model, and engine size or via VIN here:
https://valvolinecatalog.com

You may search filters via part number and view images, filter attributes, and the guide listing vehicle fitment for each filter based on OEM specifications.

We do stand behind our filters when used in recommended applications. Please see the attached attributes and filter warranty letter.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us via phone at 800 TEAM VAL or by email at [email protected] for assistance.

Thank you and have a great day.

Valvoline Product Support.

If I was to take a educated guess, Valvoline oil filters of late have shown to come from either Champion Laboratories (Champ/LubeFiner) or Premium Guard. Champion Laboratories falls under the PetroClear group that itself falls under the "First Brands Group" as the parent company of all. First Brands Group also owns Fram and both Fram and Champion Laboratories have cross pollinated their filters across each respective brands depending on the SKU.

My money is that the VO-207 is derived from whatever source FRAM/Champ/LubeFiner is using for their equivalent oil filter in their catalogs.

To bad no ISO particle count on the Valvoline Filter.

9.7% Noack is way high. I'm at 5%

Doc’s diesel has an oil that meets the MS-12991 standard made by hotshots secret. I didn’t see either on the first page.
I just updated the front page to add Doc's EcoD 5W-40. Thanks for reminding me to do that.
