I bought a spare oil filter cap after I seen it on the engine.... Just knowing S### happens. Now I should never need it, or it will be misplaced when I do.

Would it be a good practice to just replace the filter cap along with the filter cartridge every oil change?

That is overkill to be changing the cap at every oil change, especially if you are doing your own oil changes.

So long as you are correctly removing the oil filter and torquing the cap 18 ft-lbs on installation, should get plenty of service life with the oil filter cap.

90% of the problem is the Grape Apes that change the oil and filters that work at the quickie lube and dealerships not slowing down and following the procedure.

Yep and the filter is pre-loaded to prevent these issues!

Bad news is, the list price checks in at $92 each. Even at half-off through online vendors it's still a rip-off.

Your link goes to an aftermarket (not Mopar)oil filler housing cap and oil filter.

Best bet is to stick with OEM filler housing cap in my opinion.
