@No Quarter I'm with you on this one...

Maybe go out and use that rig for what it's built for... you'll be better off.

I'm out here bashing my shit off of rocks, both bumpers, both sliders, all 5 wheels and one fender have had direct contact with some gnarly ass granite and others are so concerned about door dings that they need to confront a female about where she parks.
I am on a fixed income Levi. I am trying to keep my Jeep in nice shape. I do not have the funds at my age to go out and replace damaged parts. Payments are high enough for me to contend with as it is. I am happy that you can and have the funds to do just that. If asking a person why they parked so close to my Jeep in a polite manner is a confrontation, well it sure was not expressed that way to her.

I hear ya, man... I just feel like that's one of the benefits of driving something like this, there are very few vehicles that a can actually door ding you and if they do, it doesn't really affect the value of the vehicle. I've had quite a few sports cars that I constantly worried about being parked somewhere... but the Jeeps have just been so nice to not have that stress.

I just find it entertaining that you think your rights were being infringed upon in this whole situation, and you say that you confronted her but then that it wasn't a confrontation. You then take that opinion so far as to say that she should not be allowed to drive and needs to have her family take her everywhere because you didn't approve. That's not fair. I don't always park the greatest, does that mean my license should be taken away too?

It's not that I'm defending her reaction, I most certainly am not, but it's the fact that you can't see or discuss your own prejudgments that intrigues me. You sure were quick to pass judgement on her, confront her on something that was not an issue, jump online to bash her, and then act like you're the savior in the whole situation and that you were somehow slighted.

"She parked like crap". Yes, we all agree there. I get parked next to by people who are equally as inconsiderate all the time. I definitely don't feel "infringed" and I don't feel the need to start arguments with them. Sometimes all it takes is to bring it up to start an argument. You gotta be conscious of that.

"I confronted her and she is a terrible person that needs to not drive anywhere anymore". Huh? It seems to me you were a little tone-deaf to the situation if you thought she (or anyone for that matter) was just going to smile and agree when confronted like that. Empathy is a powerful tool that we all need to have and use. If someone came up to you the same way you went to her I get the impression you'd take offense to it just like she did.

Two things I am fairly certain of ... none of us were there, and there are two sides to every story. But if your description of HOW you asked the question is accurate - "Why would you park so close to me when there are a bunch of open spots to your left?" - it doesn't get much more passive-aggressive than that. That person is immediately put on the defensive, and if they're not having a great day, it'll probably show.

So I head off to the local clinic to see my doctor for my check up and I come back out to my Jeep after my check up and see that a older lady in a Ford van has decided to park close, as in very close, to my Gladiator. Mind you I park way away from everyone else as I do not like door dings. On top of that I park as close to the one side of the parking space as I can so IF someone parks in the space next to me they will have plenty of room in their space. If my wife would of been with me she could not of been able to get into the passenger door. Unbelieveable......

get some door edge protectors and swing away into her van. Stupid people deserve the rewards they get.
This is also another reason i swapped the rock rails with side steps so they cant hit my doors (granted mine is a bit taller than stock)

Fun thread. Bringing out the best and the worst in people it seems.
I, for one, am always surprised when I pull into a seemingly narrow parking slot, get out and see how much room there actually is. The Jeep is much narrower than perceived from the driver's position...
I suppose I'll get used to it in time...

This is exactly why i have the factory side steps, when someone opens their door they hit that instead,...no door dings

Relax John. She said she was a "Cancer Survivor", not a "Cancer Patient" and if you read my post, I was very polite to her and even told her I was sorry that she had been ill. I was very kind and asked her if she could please not park that close again. She then became nasty with me. Otherwise, I would of just said thanks and left. She provoked the situation so I reacted. I have some health issues as well at my age, however I don't use that as a crutch to act nasty to others. End of story.
I had to laugh. It was almost straight out of a Larry David "Curb Your Enthusiasm" episode. When he chided somebody for a mistake, they replied that they were "on the spectrum" leaving Larry very embarrassed for confronting them. For the rest of the episode any time Larry screwed up, he would just say, "I'm on the spectrum."

Over 100 posts because someone didn't like how an older lady parked in a lot open to the general public.

I would never admit it to the world, if I had confronted her about how she parked. But, I wouldn't do that. I was also raised to show some respect and tolerance for older people.

Wow...you're really starting to stretch things a bit there Mr. Bill. However, post whatever you like, be it inaccurate or not as long as it makes you feel good!

Here’s Paulie Walnuts with the color commentary on this situation…no apologies forthcoming.

And, for all you guys that got your undies in a knot, he’s very polite about it.
