(Poll) what's better Jeep Wrangler OR Jeep gladiator and why.

Most levels of JT - 6,000 pound towing - and my Mojave is limited to UNDER 900 pounds payload.
The JLU we have now - 5,000 pounds towing and up to 1300 pounds payload
I could technically tow my car hauler for my Eagle on it with the JLU. It would be maxing it out, but it's doable in an emergency.

If you have a JLU and a nice trailer - you are set for hauling almost anything you need from Menards.

The JT is convenient - load it and go. So there is that.
But we have both, a 2026 JLU Rubicon and a 2025 JT Mojave and so the best of both worlds, choices.

I can put MORE in our JLU than I can my JT Mojave by 400 pounds!!!!!
And it tows only 1,000 pounds less than the JT Mojave.

Is your mojave an X? I know they now lost the 2026 mojave x and Rubicon both at 7700lb towing capacity just like the max tow but I'm not sure what they were doing in 2025. Have you checked yours specifically? I thought they bumped all mojaves to 7k like the rubicons in 2024, but I could be wrong.

Since they only list payload and not towing, the only thing a person can go by it what's on the internet for towing specs.

There's some reasons I like them. And as I was telling our

This was in my owners manual kind of simple. I have seen a lot of charts say 6K for Mojave, 7K for Rubicon. For my Mojave at 7650 it would take my entire load rating for the tongue weight i would have to stand beside it driving to not go over the cargo weight limit.

Don't go by that! That's for a sport with MAX TOW.
Mojave will never come as a max tow. That is not for Mojave!
Look at the rating for Mojave - not max tow.

Gladiator for camping trips and having room for cargo.

Wrangler for shorter off road runs and 1-2 day adventures.

Have Both , can say the ride of the wifes 26 JLUR is better than my 25 JT Willys but I have stiffer shocks and hers has more sidewall.

Of course it is strictly an Opinion based on one's person bias. Gladiator has a bed a storage space not found in the passenger area where I can carry fuel, liquids , wood my leaky coolers etc.. What more could one ask for?? That feature is what makes the Gladiator the best. Mic drop

To me they are essentially the same. One is an SUV, the other a truck. Pick the one that suits your needs.

I've had TJs, a JKU, a JLU and I'm on my second JT, a Mojave.

With my Wranglers I was always wishing I had a little more room.

My Gladiator will go most anywhere my Wranglers would. Haul more stuff and tow my little 3,250 pound travel trailer just fine.

For me, at this time, the Gladiator is better.

Look at the rating for Mojave - not max tow.

It is surprising they put the effort to put a tow chart in the manual and then only put one in based on drivetrain. I do not tow over 4K with it much so it usually has it easy.

Jeep with a bed...doesn't get better. Not even sure why it took as long as 2020 to not make them sooner.

In my opinion, if you’re cross shopping a JLU and a JT, you don’t need a JT. A JLU would never be able to do the towing or hauling mine has done so it wasn’t a real consideration when I got mine. Now that I have my dad’s old truck, I’d rather have a JLU. They have a lot better power to weight ratio, more maneuverable, are better offroad in a lot of cases, and I’d love to have that power sliding top. It would fit in the garage a lot better too.

this is my sixth jeep, gladiators ride better and offer utility that jl can't. try cramming big camping or costco trip in a regular jeep.

I could fit more camping gear in my JKU than I can in my JT. I need a camper shell and then I could fit more.

Maybe the better question would have been:

"What's better: a Gladiator or a Pickup converted Wrangler Unlimited?"

I actually saw a converted wrangler two days ago locally, it was yellow (not HV yellow) and had a gladiator rear top covering the front seats. At first I thought it was a 2 door with a custom cap, but after seeing another 2 door with the rear top off, it confirmed the yellow was in fact the converted 4 door.

Now if THAT was the question, your real limits between the two would be tow capacity, 2 seater vs 5 seater, and 5 foot vs 6 foot bed. Everything else would be moot.

It’s already been beaten to death, but I’ll throw in my comment anyway…

For me, it’s Gladiator. I like the looks of the Wrangler more, but for my personal needs the JT is far and way the best option. Like someone else mentioned, I don’t want to throw a deer carcass into the back of a Wrangler. I also like kayaking, and it’s SO much easier putting one in the bed of my JT versus carrying a step stool, and going through the tedious process of mounting it on the roof of a Wrangler.

Add in other things, like a few months ago when the roads were so bad that garbage didn’t get picked up for almost a month… I would have been pretty irritated throwing 10 bags of stinky garbage inside of my wrangler to take to a dumpster.

Wife drives a 21 JLURD, I drive a 23 JTRD....

Other than departure angle, we do a lot of serious offroading, there's no advantage to the wrangler.... the gladiator (aka the mule) has more carrying capacity down the wrangler and can do everything else that I can do well...
