Potential New Commute

My current commute is 2ish miles round trip (I make sure I drive long enough to get the oil up to temp, ~185), depending on traffic and if I feel like taking different roads. I am looking at a new job, and that commute could become 60 miles round trip sometime soon. I've done 2 years of 80-mile round trips in a GLI, but nothing this consistent in the Gladiator. What would you recommend to make the drives more comfortable and easy? I've made a few 3+ hour drives in the Jeep so far, but this will be a consistent 2 hours each day.

I had a 120 mile roundtrip commute for 8 years. It wasn't awful because it was all highway, and ended up being an hour there and an hour back. The biggest hurdle is boredom, and I found that podcasts and audiobooks were a lifesaver. As for comfort, you may want to do a trial drive and see what you think you may need like a dead pedal and a lumbar cushion. I've done several long drive in mine, and honestly physically it felt just as fine as any other vehicle but ymmv.

I drive 44 miles every morning 5 days/week and have taken multiple +1200 mile or more round trips in this rig. Spotify music and a number of different podcasts are how I deal. No issues with the vehicle or the ride.

I commute 184 miles a day- in a sportwagen tdi ($5.60 a gallon- not driving the jeep for fuel cost and stacking miles…)

killmat all door panels, floor, and the roof(under hotheads headliner) helps a ton- fold the front windshield down and install some insulation tape. Will cut down the road noise a lot.
I did this to my sportwagen first and it was a HUGE help… literally did the Jeep the next weekend after commuting in the VW and noticed a big difference.
As far as the commute- it is what it is. Podcasts and music. If you can push your commute to as early as possible to avoid others. Keep a good first aid kit, and a larger than normal fire extinguisher on hand…. See so many accidents now

I had a similar commute pre-pandemic - 25 miles with some stop and go. Now I work from home and go in for important meetings and hands on work.

• Better audio was important for me because it was my only chance to crank it up as I live in an apartment. ? I got the Terra Acoustics dash speaker replacements and it was noticeably better. Or if I just wanted to podcast they helped out.
• I also liked having wireless Car Play adapter so I didn't have to keep messing with the lightning cable.
• If you like your coffee or whatever in a YETI style mug/bottle a cup holder is nice to have for that. I have a YETI Rambler (the kind with the handle - mug) and so one of these was nice to have. https://www.amzn.com/B09V3H2VPD

Drove mine almost non-stop except for fuel stops to Florida and back a year ago. No complaints. It's my daily driver and 2 miles doesn't even get me out of my own neighborhood - it's 10 to town, double that to get into town, and 25 miles just to get to the dealership.
60 mile round trip? Do that in a 73 Javelin, dual quads, headers and racing mufflers. You'll appreciate the comfort and quiet of a Jeep!

My wife used to commute between the Clear Lake, Iowa area and Des Moines - tank of gas every day, oil change every month. It was about 1150 - 1200 miles a week but almost all highway so the oil changes were not as frequent as I might have done.
She did audio books. It was almost 2 hours each way.

BTW - 185 isn't all that warm if you only drive long enough to get up to that........ it takes a while AT that temperature to do much good so this is going to be a great thing for your Jeep - it's going to be a lot happier and your batteries might actually get charged for a change.

Anyway, not sure what the issue really is here - 60 round trip means only 30 miles one way. Heck, for that, just a radio would do me.

I commute 90 miles each day for work, (45 minutes each way), 6 days a week, and spend at least 80 of that mileage at 70 + MPH. I've been doing that for a bit over 3 years now.

I've not found that I need anything to manage the comfort, I find this thing to be surprisingly comfortable as is.

If the seating position is fine for you, just find a good podcast and get settled in and enjoy some "alone" time

I drive 70+ miles round trip 4 days a week for my commute. When I go out to my range it is 100 miles round trip. I have been doing this for 4 years now.

I appreciate everyone's feedback; it was exactly what I wanted to hear. I was waiting for someone to go, "commute? in a jeep? are you crazy?" but, alas, that's not the case because we all know what we bought.

I too have a long commute, 75 miles round trip, had this one for a little over 8 years now.

Vehicle comfort is great IMO, but my back and knees occasionally hurt. Specifically when I find that I dont workout for a couple days...feels like all of my joints go into revolt.

I find that I LOVE setting the cruise to 65 (or what ever the speed limit is for you) and listening to either an audio book or using the duolingo app the work on a second and third language. Too me the membership to the audible ap was worth while because I get a LOT of books free of charge, and I can even "exchange" ones I got with the monthly credits they provide. I particularly like the access to a lot of the great courses they have.

Ive also found that I stick to more highway oriented tires and get good mpg for my drives. 21-22 typically.
