I am going to sell my 2021 Gladiator Rubicon.

I would like to pick the collective brain of the forum.

I am thinking I am going to take it back to stock, sell the following items separately.
  • Alu-Cab canopy
  • winch
  • bull bar
  • rotopax front fender mounts
  • bedslide
  • two drawers
  • Two spots and Two floods
  • I may sell the two gun cases (used for camping gear) that I mount on top of the Alu-Cab
  • I also did a 40% seat delete where I mount my dometic fridge (keeping the fridge)

Have you guys sold your jeep intact or stripped of the accessories and sold it all separately?

To answer your next question, I am not sure what I am going to replace the jeep with...

Why are you going to sell it if you don't know what you'll buy to replace it with?
Generally, most people find that it is easier to sell a stock Jeep then a modified one.

I mean, what’s the vibe you get when you see the “list of mods” on Craigslist.

Beyond people doing a crappy job on mod installs, there’s the other persons taste and utility. It narrows your field a lot to ask money for installed mods.

Regardless, it’s like most things. It won’t raise your selling price most likely. But you have to go through the trouble of r&r and selling all the old stuff.

If you don’t value your time super high, then unbolting and selling parts probably is the most money.

If it’s the best value, that’s up to you.

I always keep my oem parts. Weather they go with the vehicle or get swapped back is dependent on my mood. But I also keep my mods pretty universally practical.

The challenge with selling a modified vehicle is finding a buyer that wants the mods you’ve made to the vehicle. Returning it as close to stock (blank canvas) will net you the most success with the sale.

Exactly why dealers I talked to when trading mine said - return it to stock.
Otherwise you are hoping to find someone who wants the same mods done in the same way.

(a seat delete would take a special buyer limiting the audience greatly)

Why would someone pay extra for things they'd likely take off and toss into a pile right after getting home anyway - and the parts are worth some money.
Sell 'em here in the market place or similar.

I recently had a dealer offer me 6k over KBB with moderate mods installed. I have a Softopper, Bedslide, grill and A pillar lights, Hellwig sway bar, level kit, and a couple interior knick knacks. It was more than enough to cover the money I had spent.
I'd sell the Alucab and put the seat back in then check a couple dealers to see where it lands. Your mileage will vary of course.

I sold my previous JK private sale. I kept a handful of things that would be useable in my next Jeep, took the touch screen radio out to use in my Camaro, and kept a few things that I was going to sell that the new owner did not want / wasn't going to utilize. Then there was a few things the new owner did like / wanted, and as a result he bought the JK for slightly more than what stock ones would have sold for.

My local dealer doesn't mind taking modded Jeeps - or I guess I should say they are indifferent. They don't give you a ton more money for the work but they don't hassle you to return it back to stock either.

I'd pull off all the big / expensive / weird stuff (canopy, bed slide, roto pax mounts, winch) and sell that stuff - and put the seat back. Most folks buying a Gladiator are buying it because it has a bed and a back seat.

My plan is to take it back to mostly stock, get it detailed and find a buyer for it and the accessories.

I still don't know what I am going to replace it with, probably nothing for a while. (I won't be hoofing it)

I keep all my stock parts in my basement. When I sell or trade, I pull everything that's worth my trouble (i.e. check Ebay, marketplace prices, etc.). If it's only worth a few bucks or it's not selling at all, I leave it.

Try to sell it as is , you might get lucky and find someone who shares you concept of what a Jeep should be. Otherwise take it back to stock or as much as you can. Dealers don’t want modified vehicles.

Strip it back to stock, including wheels and tires if applicable. The price will be the same regardless.

I don’t know about everyone else, but it seems to be way harder to sell privately rather than to take a small loss and trade in your vehicle nowadays.

Are you still making payments on the Jeep? That could play a part in how fast you want to sell, making trading in more attractive. If the Jeep is paid off and you’re not in a rush, sure, sell privately if you can.

I do agree it’s better to turn back to stock as much as possible. Dealers can use your modifications to actually devalue your Jeep (If trading in). Most of the time if you trade in (taking a small loss) and sell all your mods separately, you can make up for what you lost in the trade in.

Either way, I’m sure the marketplace on the forum or even Facebook will aid in helping with selling the aftermarket parts.

Best of luck with the sale!
