So the Heat Shield does "FIT"

It kinda gets bent into place when you ratchet the two bolts home.

Thanks for your work, question I have is how many of us are reinstalling this shield? The more I look at it the only thing it can protect is the rear muffler hanger from mud or possibly a tree branch that may get tossed up from the tire. I know that FCA would not spend money on a shield not needed just wonder if this was to appease an environmental issue or a safety issue

Not sure what it was meant to do. I just shoe horned it on.

Why must my projects always be so complicated?
I guess I had buggered the sway link nuts when I installed my AEV spacer lift, now the stock bolts weren’t really working.
So I decided to drill out the OEM nuts to use the Metalcloak bolts 12-1.75 (which don’t fit stock 12-1.5).
Problem is, those bolts are meant to accommodate people that have cut off the oem bracket or nut. So they’re not long enough to put the Metalcloak nut behind the stock nut.
12-1.75 by 90mm bolts from HD will do.
Nevertheless, got them on!

Nope. Only two bolts.

12-1.75. Stock nut is 12-1.5 for my 2020 JT.
I bought 12-1.75 by 90mm grade 10.9 bolts from HD. Conveniently came in a two pack haha.

I shoe horned the heat shield back on as well, when I installed it, was easy enough. I have no idea what torque is on those 2 upper bolts so I just kinda gave it 4 or so ugga duggas from my mid torque and set the sway bar end links to 60.

Nice workaround, I just installed mine the same way, front flap underneath, rear flap on top. I cranked it down with my air ratchet. It seems to be almost flush with the frame, so, I am leaving it like that. I bent two rear end links, one at Holcomb Creek, and another on John Bull trail. Both times I was able to replace the end link rod and bend the tab back down. Now with the metalcloak, the end link will bend, but the tab will always be stable. Just replace the end link rod.
The bolts supplied are the wrong pitch for the existing welded on OEM nut on the OEM mount. So, I had to use the stock OEM bolt for the end link.
