Part of me is like, after two JT builds in the last year, I just want something off the lot and for the most part ready to go. Im going to be broken for 4-8 weeks with fractured ribs and likely other issues. So this is nice alternative, I can just add a winch and some lights. Good to go, hook up my trailer and off we go.
Wow, hope things work out okay. Glad you walked away from that accident (I agree as others have said, that baby is totaled), but obviously fractured ribs and other ailments are not fun.

I think the post above is your answer and you're looking for feedback if it's cool to switch back to a Wrangler. Yes, it's cool. ?

Now if you said you were switching to a Ridgeline or something, then you might have to go to Church and repent.

But you're staying in the Jeep family with a logically thought out replacement. All good. :fist bump:

Part of it is mental, after seeing my truck and the trauma of it all, maybe something different will be better for my headspace? It sounds crazy and I dont want to sound like a softy lol but maybe. Ive already had a few sleepless nights so maybe starring at another Gladiator in my driveway could give me flashbacks of it all. Again sounds stupid to maybe someone whos never had a close call like this, but its something Im thinking about.
another note is doing a overland build with it with maybe goose gear out back and possibly another rooftop tent for the older two kids. Just ideas, but fun ideas none the less.
$500 deposit on the sting grey Wrangler XR as of 10 mins ago.

Just thinking out loud here, if I were going from a ED JT to a JL, I would be looking at 1) the 392, which you've already ruled out, or 2) a 4xe. The combined torque and fuel economy of the 4xe is very intriguing to me. I'm trying to convince my wife to trade her 4Runner in on one, but so far I'm having no luck. $132 to fill her truck up last night though, and she'll get less than 500km on that. At the very least, I'm hoping Toyota does something with the next gen 4Runner to make it more efficient, or wife digs the new Grand Cherokee 4xe. We shall see..

Yeah 392 out of the conversation lol. The 4xe intrigued me but I don’t think the tech will age well and the 2.0 needs 91 octane which in my area is 1.90/L vs 1.69 for 87. I think simplicity might take the cake on this and well, price too. I found a 4xe rubicon pretty much loaded and the dealer was asking 74k vs 70k for the XR. Gives me some left over for a new winch and lights.

Oh c'mon man, the JT will buff right up.

Get what you want, if you can wait a little while get exactly what you want. No need to rush into anything. But if that JL is whispering dirty pillow talk in your ear, then you know you're going to have her.

Man if my JT was totaled I would hands down be looking at a JLU if I was doing another new one.. It would be a very lightly optioned sport & then start the build over again fixing the stuff I know I would do differently in my current build. I am not that lucky though.. I could build up a hell of a nice JLU for what I got into my JT.

Its tough to find any JTs at all, but I found a few Mojaves for around $70k cdn. This jeep with XR package is also $70k msrp cdn. I dont use the pick up bed religiously but its nice for the hockey and sticks, garbage days and camping. Towing isnt a concern as my trailer is only 1300lbs dry. Our camp trips can still easily be achieved with a real interior cargo rack and exterior rack if needed.
Attached is the options list.

Cool trailer, can you share info on it? Never seen this one before. I am currently researching options and I do like the simplicity of this one. Any info would be appreciated.

I’d do it. Unless you really need a pick up bed. Nice thing about XR’s is there is not a lot of upgrades to do after the purchase. Looks like it already comes with the steel bumpers too.

Damn man. Glad you're okay. Having worked crashes like this you are lucky to have gotten out of that one. I am a sucker for my JT, but my wife has a '21 JLUS and its very nice. I don't know much about the e-torque motor, but it is all personal opinion in your case. Hope you find something you love. IMHO I think you would do well with the XR though.

If you don't need a bed get a JL. The ONLY REASON to buy a JT over a JL is the bed.... maybe towing?! I guess I could make a Mojave long wheelbase Desert running argument but nah.

PS: 4 coats of Zaino could have fixed your JT easy.

Glad to hear you were not too seriously hurt. That looked like a hell of a hit. Been in your position w/ a head-on and it takes awhile before you feel like every car you see near the double yellow is gonna come over into you again. Side note on the trailer. If your former JT is available to re-purchase from your insurance company, I would totally consider buying it and making a trailer out of the bed/rear frame. I'm a huge tinkerer and would jump at a chance to do a project like that.
