It's really bad when a neuro-psychologist puts that in writing....... but it brings me a whole lot of business from people who expect perfection. (and in that respect, not sure if that's a good thing or not)"OCD Club" - dont worry, Im a member
I was so careful putting them on my JT that I literally prepped everything, lifted the step for the left side onto two inverted milk crates and blocked and shimmed the steps up on each crate until the step bolts that go through the rocker panel holes would go straight through and not touch anything else. When I decided it was perfect, I simply slid the step into place on the wood blocks, bolts straight through the holes. No chance of a bolt touching a painted surface.
Did that for each side.
So I lifted each one time - onto the two milk crates (one at each end of the step) and never had to hold and line things up.
Where the rubber seal attaches to the truck and the rocker panel sections aren't totally even, I slid pieces of foam backer strips into the rubber strip to make it stick out more and hit against the step top where the JT's body panels were a bit uneven.
