Has anyone done a Seafoam treatment on their 3.6 by chance?

On all of my GM trucks I would pull the vacuum line from the brake booster and use a funnel to pour in the canned version. This is not really an option with the JTs, so I got the spray can Seafoam and it says to insert the hose prior to the TB but after the MAF which is doable. Just wondering if anyone else has done it. Everything on YouTube is for JKs....nothing for JLs or JTs. Guess its time to be the one that leads the way.

I have about 21,6xx miles now. I have been through a few different catch can set ups before I landed on one that works as desired. This OEM PVC system sucks quite a bit of oil compared to anything I have owned (mostly GM). I like to keep things clean as possible.

Without a catch can or the previous ones I always had a random hiccup/studder or misfires under medium load. I have had the new J&L catch can on for about 500 miles now and the issue is gone. If that much oil is making it into the intake and eventually in the combustion chamber this would account for the studder/misfiring I was experiencing.

I will report back with my results or failures LOL; transparency is key. I can't wait to smoke out the neighborhood and then drive it like I stole it to blow all the shit out

Ok, no feedback yet, but interest. Sweet I will make it happen. Let me make my first YouTube video then.........it will be hasty, fuck that editing shit......no time for that.

Cool, I'm going to get this done tomorrow with the assistance of my 13 year old son. Stated to hold the idle at 2000rpm for the duration of the injection; they state it takes approximately 7 mins to empty the can.

Then shut it down, let it soak for at least 10 minutes.......then take it out and drive the snot out of it....in my words lol

Interested in results. Please post your hasty video link here when it is uploaded!

I am at 45xxx miles and notice a rough idle sometimes and remembered sea foaming other vehicles I’ve had. I’m looking into the J&L catch can now.

On my 2020 Gladiator, I did the Seafoam Treatment twice.

Just disconnected the vacuum brake booster hose located on the throttle body just aft of the butterfly plate and did the slow pour and soak method.

I’ve done sea foam twice. Once in the first engine and once in the second. Both times driving it like i stole it after hot soaking, the white smoke was embarrassing, the engine knock was concerning….but did it run better or do i think it cleaned the valves ?? I have reason to think not. All the white smoke is the sea foam chemicals and your valves are already clean because the injectors spray gas on them which keeps them clean. So is all the smoke then evidence of all the carbon on the pistons and spark plugs getting burned off? I doubt it. Maybe the sea foam cleans the oil residue all laying around the intake manifold but I took mine off and changed the crappy oil burning spark plugs, I sprayed a bunch of brake clean in the intake manifold and shook it till my glasses fell off my face, then dumped out all the crap and oil shit residue coating the inside which I am happy to say is now caught in a catch can.

I usually do the seafoam in the gas as it helps clean the valves. Being port injected the injectors shoot gas over the valve. The seafoam adds a bit to the cleaning.

Throttle body you can just take off and clean fairly easy.

With my first truck, I would occasionally dump a can of Sea Foam in the fuel tank. I started using the Sea Foam Injector Cleaner after the dealer tried to sell me some Injector Cleaning service. It was quiet and running great when I traded it in with almost 60k miles on it.

With the new truck, I plan to dump a 20oz can of the Sea Foam in the fuel tank every 5k miles. I have been using the Sea Foam Injector Cleaner about every third tank. I may stretch that out due to the cost. I bought a case of 24 in March for $84, but the price is now around $140. Amazon is more convenient, but Wal-Mart is usually cheaper, especially for small quantities.

Well today was another welcome to the shit show. Had a big push/requirement from work drop on my lap with zero guidance other then, don't fuck it up lol.

I did slice a few minutes out to check the new catch can to see what's happening there. I'm baffled, there should not be this much oil after 500ish miles.

Not a single GM engine or platform I've owned has had this much oil in 500 miles or 5000 miles.

So if I didn't have a catch can, all of that shit would be in my intake or dropped into the valvetrain/combustion camber to be burnt off ........that's excessive. No wonder why it was running like shit.

Can't wait to actually Seafoam this bish now

500 miles, well thats absurd. I've had CC's on some heavy boosted setups and that amount of fluid is at a 5k oil change.

Is it pure oil or a water mix?

Bad PCV valve or other mechanical issue seems afoot here.

For shitshow 2.0.

Looks like this 3.6 need a dual catch can set up like I developed for my '04 Colorado ZQ8 with the 3.5L inline 5. Both the exhaust and intake side of the PCV system are sucking tons of oil. I might try to reach out to either J&L or Mishimoto since I've worked with them in the past.

I'm going to start working on a dual can set up this week.
