What a bunch of bullshit! that is damn near the same thing as selling you a wrecked one and not disclosing it.

I'd say they owe you a new one...
We’ve broached that topic. Unfortunately, Colorado does not have a 3 day right if recision on autos.

Did they do it as a preventative measure based on reports (or a TSB) or had it failed during prep?
Failed during Prep and was replaced.

Good to hear they were proactive about it. If this issue is causing failure in prep, I have to believe it’s raising some significant flags if it hasn’t already.

suddenly I’m a little nervous about my delivery date in A couple weeks.
we’ve got a couple dozen 3rd gen ecodiesel rams at the shop and they’ve been fantastic.

clearly A pump can be made to work well on the ecodiesel. I don’t know if they’re the same part numbers or not because none of ours have had any issues

Driving back from DIA (Denver Int’l) in 15° weather our 2015 ecoDiesel GC DEF pump froze. Luckily, I purchased an extended warranty since the repair was $3,500 and not covered under emissions.

Buyer beware, DEF is the potential Achilles’ heel of all new diesels. If I were to buy a diesel again, unlikely that is going to happen, I’d immediately get a hold of https://greendieselengineering.com/ and beg them to post up a JL/JT tune and delete my DEF.

DEF freezes and don’t understand why the DEF tank doesn’t live under the hood, next to a natural heat source, and the lines to the pump aren’t continuously heated by the exhaust to prevent a very common issue. Heck, the pump should have its own reservoir with a heating element at the very least. Also, since I’m b!tching about a problem I will never have again, why is the DEF filler so damn small?

Legal or not I think its pretty damn shady they wouldn't have disclosed it. At the very least you would have known immediately when it acted up that it wasn't just some random or fluke thing.

Good luck with it. I hope they get it fixed or get you a new one under lemon law rule or something[/QUOTE]

I cancelled a Mojave order to pursue the diesel and look forward to delivery more than ever. Aside from things tightly related to emissions, the Gen 3 seems to have good bones so far. It's great to hear that your 3rd gen Ram ecos seemed dialed in. I'm sure we'll have this squared away by next winter.

Still pondering what my ask is going to be from the dealer I bought it from. Extended warranty on them/discounted? Labor on a 2” MOPAR lift? Etc. It will probably depend on what I hear from the local dealer tomorrow about what the issue actually is.

Ended up that the transmission wiring harness was not securely connected. You’d think they’d flush these things out before delivery to the customer.
Unreal! Glad they found the problem......

GM tried that on trucks. Customers HATED it. Nobody wants to pop the hood to fill routine fluids, especially in the middle of a winter storm. So they eventually moved it to the proper location next to the diesel fill neck so that both can be filled from a convenient location.

I've had mine for over a year now. Temperatures have been 0F to 95F. I haven't had one single issue with my DEF. It's never frozen and never thrown a light. I usually buy off the shelf at Walmart so that I know what I'm getting, where it came from, and when it was produced. The size of the DEF fill matches the DEF funnels that are sold with every bottle of DEF perfectly and this prevents spills.

Question for you, @WXman... what do you look for when buying DEF? Local Walmart has two types on the shelf, super tech at $7 for 2.5 gal and blue def at $13, same size.

Looking at picking up a diesel gladiator later this summer, just wondering with all the DEF issues that have popped up are people going to shy away from them. I live in CO and don't want to worry DEF freezing and pumps going out all winter long.

Despite the issues I have already experienced with the DEF system, I would order the diesel again if I had to do it all over. As a daily driver the performance is night and day vs the Pentastar. Almost bought a 20’ gasser at the end of the year and drove a wrangler sport with the Diesel engine and made up my mind that day I was going to buy the diesel when Sarge came out. Steering on the 21’ is night and day vs the 20’ also. Time will tell on reliability aspect.

even Though there are several with problems here I think we are a pretty small percentage of the whole. Also, I think the vast majority of us have gotten the problems resolved. The reality is there are too many ecodiesel and other diesel motors that use DEF to think it won't function correctly. It doesn't stop me complaining about how stupid it is.........but it obviously functions correctly A LOT.

Also, it's worth pointing out that other than the 392 hemi that's coming.....the diesel is hands down the most powerful fuel efficient motor jeep has ever put in the wrangler/gladiator. Everybody that sees mine or talks to me is just in awe of the awesomeness!

Is it for everybody.....no, but the cool factor and power/ performance is unmatched. Imho.
