Not true about rebuilding the Falcons.....I can get seal kits, oil and shims in stock, and can perform the service. Just don't expect much if any support from them on custom valving.

That said, Falcons are near the bottom of my list....Probably right above the "white rockets" (Rancho, Superlift, Reflex, etc)
Didn’t know that. But agreed. They were never even on my list.

Do you have corrosion problems in your area? How do you drive?

Mostly road or slow off road, cooler temps, under 6K most of the time.......2.0"
Towing heavy on road, faster off road, warm temps, and weight over 6K most of the time......2.5"

You may have to adjust your expectations or budget to be happy.

I want it all lol!
Low maintenance, good ride on the street and controlled offroad. Budget of around the $2k.

I have, 3" lift 38" Patagonia M/T's currently running RK RRD 2.25 shocks, which you have to check Nitrogen every 6 months and add when not if, needed. Not bad on the street but in the rocks of Moab you just bounce and jerk on everything, going slow.
2k is a tough number. It seems like that’s right between basic and high end.

Yeah I see a lot of negatives from searches on the Falcons.
I'm not interested in anything Falcon from what I have seen and experience with clients. Too much money for what it is and poor support. I'm liking the Fox stuff because parts are easy to get, easier to get serviced, and the price is on par?

I'm also pretty invested in tuning for the SDI E-Cliks, but that will definitely bust your budget!

Agreed. 2.0’s are barely up to the task on a 5k vehicle. But 6k with gear and/or trailer, and occasional off roading, and they will disappoint you. And with a lifted truck and 38’s, I think more budget should be considered. The other option, and this is ok, is buy 2.0’s, but expect them to fail once every 18 months or less.

I absolutely love my ecliks. But yes. Budget is blown. But I have zero regrets. The other plus with them is that you don’t need to forklift your shocks if you lift higher. Just change the internal clip position.

Out of the box, the Fox 2.0's are too soft.....I had a set open today for a rebuild/revalve on a 3500HD Duramax with 30K miles on them and the fluid was black! Perfect example of a truck over 6Klb and tows 20K+? This truck should be on 2.5's minimum!

My Fox Elite 2.5's needed an oil change at 40K with 70/30 use at 6500-8000lb.

OP.....Can you just get your RK shocks tuned? Are they an IFP or emulsion design? I've never had a set open or even in my hands........

Well the 2.0 smooth body would work but it would be nice if it had a .75 diameter shaft instead of .625 diameter. 2.5's would be closer to $3000 for a set.
I remember Fox being pretty high back in the day of racing Quads on the MX track. Awesome shocks but you paid for them.

The 2.0s worked well on our jlur on 38s that was pushing 5400lbs loaded, even in the desert. Washboards at highway speeds were normal. Only had about 15k miles on them when the jeep was stolen but no issues at all. If you routinely run high speeds in the desert then a 2.5 reservoir shock is the way to go, but for crawling in moab or running the low speed trails in Ouray they are overkill and the 2.0s are great there in my experience.

Already had them upgraded to IFP and rebuilt a few months ago. Still not happy with them.

I do tow my 18' 3500 lb. camper with it also.

I forgot that someone had mentioned the Bilstein B8 5160 remote reservoir shock absorbers would probably do me just fine also. I think they may be the OEM shock on the Mojave now. they are around the $270 each range.

But, still the corrosion issue.

If you’re feeling Foxy, try these. Tell Accutune your usage and let em tune them to your usage. Like others mentioned, $2k is a tough number…prices jump from like $1,200 to $2,900 from tier to tier.

This being said, I’d probably go Falcon 3.3 at the $2k price point. If Falcon was out of the picture, I’d keep saving for something in the $3k range or go with regular Fox 2.0s (or the ones below if you’re worried about heat).

I’m just spitballin ideas at you.

Edit: I misread someone else’s distaste for Falcon as yours. Nvm on not considering Falcon.

I do not think there is a shock brand out there you cannot find some thread where everybody is pissing all over them.

I have been happy with my Falcons that I have even swapped them forward over my last three Gladiators. Currently at around 75K miles on them total. Like everything else, they have inflation jacked the prices on them and I may shop elsewhere when the time comes to replace them.
