Shocks for $4-600

What are the best shocks I can get in the $4-600 range? I’d love Fox or Falcon but they’re not in the budget. I really need to get these Iron Rock shock extensions off of this thing. . So far the leader is Bilstein 5100s for around $440. Also looking for opinions on Rancho 9000XL. 2 inch lift all the way around that I eventually want to take to 3 in the front. strictly road use

Bilstein a tough one to beat in that price range from what I’ve gathered.

I have rough country’s V2 monotube shocks and they’ve been pretty good. They’re about $520 for all four. They’re good if you like a stiffer ride and shorter lasting bounces.

For example I fly over train tracks like they don’t exist. Yes, I feel it, but the truck bounces once per bump if that makes sense. No floating around for seconds following the bumps.

I haven’t pushed them enough offroad yet to see how much they fade with heat buildup though. I think this is where Bilstein excels as well anyways.

I went with the Bilstein's and am extremely happy. Total install was $590 and the change was noticeable. The ride and drive improved.

Yea RC definitely gets a lot of hate. I guess they weren’t so great in the past. I have their 2.5” spring level kit up front for awhile now and haven’t had any issues. I can’t speak to their track bars, skid plates, exhausts, etc - their springs, sway bar links, and V2 shocks are working well for me however.

Bilstein 5100s are the best option if I had to guess though. They have countless testimonials to prove that. I only went with RC’s V2s out of curiosity, and I’m also the only person online that has them it seems lol.

I went with a set of bilstein 5100’s and so far they’re nice. Bought them through a company called Cali raised offroad and it was around 559 including expedited shipping. I got them next day. You can find them on Amazon for around 450-500. I do love the falcons on my wife’s JLU.

Depends entirely on your preferred ride and handling. I prefer a firmer and more responsive ride so I really like the digressive valving of the bilsteins. If you prefer a softer, more compliant ride (which also means more body roll and brake dive) go with the ranchos. If you shop sales you can get fox 2.0s for ~$800 if you can put a bit more into the shock budget. They are a much better shock in my experience.

Thread is old AF but whatever, I'll bite.

Ran 5100s for 25K miles. They are on the stiff side but control weight and sway pretty well under normal conditions. I'm not talking you and three kids and ten thousand pounds of camping gear in the bed - but using the truck like 'normal' they did well. They are very rough on cracked up roads, sharp ridges, pot holes. Very nice on dips and smooth swells.

Running Rancho RS9000XL's now. The adjustments are noticeable. I run them on the lowest settings, or close to it. Truck has more pronounced lean/sway in turns or with a lot of weight on the back end when set low, but cracks and ridges are smooth. Truck doesn't dance as much, not as much energy is transferred all the way up to my seat.

Both good shocks. What is considered 'good ride quality' varies wildly from person to person.
