Even at less than 1% it's got full power, in that video the dude was doing those runs on a <1% battery. You were most likely in 2h where it really limits torque vs 4h auto where it will scoot to 60 in mid 5s, and hang with a 392 to 30 mph.
Gotcha. Well I'm glad there must be a trick to it because from a 30 roll in 2HI it just felt like any Jeep to me (with a noisier clicky clacky tractor motor). Listening to faint turbo sounds was fun though. I just shrugged my shoulders and was like well thats it I guess. I tried to goose it out if the parking lot the first time but it seemed to fall on its face until the gas motor cranked up (it was constantly turning on and off because it didnt seem to any power from a rolling stop) so I'm still under the assumption the battery was stone dead or something else was amiss.

Is that just the way it is, or is it something that a tazer/mod could help with in 2hi?

Just the way it is, they call come with 4 hi auto so we just keep ours in 4ha. It also is a bit slow if you don't have the gas engine lit to start, in that case flooring it just confuses it a bit since it tries to go on electric while the gas is being lit and then makes an unsmooth transition. If you want to feel full power 4ha and start with the gas engine lit (manual mode, or esave) and then floor it. 0-60 on 39s in 6.3-6.6 seconds in ours. By comparison my gladiator on 39s pre-regear was 12+ seconds.

Hello. New to this forum. Here to pose a question to JT owners.

I currently own a 21 JLU 4xe Rubicon. Factory ordered at 5% below invoice in March 2021. Paid under $45k after my $7,500 tax credit. A deal I’ll never be able to replicate thanks to the seemingly weekly price increases from Jeep. 42,000 miles on it. I’ve got a MOPAR Max Care warranty to take me to 2028 or 100,000 miles. Which is when they project the next Wrangler & Gladiator models to come out

I’m currently dealing with the hybrid battery recall and am not able to charge my Jeep. I’m working with Jeep Wave and am hopeful they will give me a rental soon but I’m not holding my breath. I’m not supposed to park near other vehicles or buildings, which is unrealistic. I drive around 50-80 miles a day for work so not being able to charge has made a big difference on my MPG. Thankfully, I get reimbursed for mileage. Currently averaging around 19MPG. I realize this is about what I’ll get in a JT.

I’m very tempted by the incentives on the 2023 Gladiators. More specially a Mojave. Plenty in stock near me for 20% below MSRP before any other negotiations. I’m hopeful that the incentives will get even better in the coming weeks. I would like the versatility of having a small truck bed, but I’m only really considering at this point because of my hybrid battery recall and because the prices have dropped so much on the 23 Gladiators.

I’m here in hopes that some people will talk some sense into me and tell me I shouldn’t be considering the switch. Prior to my recall and these tempting prices, my plan was to hold onto my Wrangler until 2028/100k miles and by that point I’d probably look into upgrading. I also know I’ll likely be kicking myself when the 4xe Gladiators come out next year… but I doubt they’ll be reasonably priced.

Any input is appreciated.
Just buy a Gladiator Mojave (Love mine!) and keep the JL until they figure out the issue with the battery. I also have a JLUR, but with the V6. Love it, too.

He literally says that in the comment you responded to and doesn't even mention a 22
I don't get why you are laughing - I was confirming the 23 doesn't have more safety stuff - it's like the prior year (for comparison) - reading comprehension - I was confirming, not answering.
Others look and wonder about moving to a 23 because of the deep discounts. No reason to trade a 21 or 22 for a 23 - pretty much the same.

Same here - it stays in 4H auto. No reason not to and it really lets it shine.
I loved it during our trip through the mountains and driving IA to FL and back. Hardly any shifting on the grades where my JT had to constantly downshift, up and down, mostly down, to make the grades while the 4xe stayed in 8th and just cruised right along.
In stop and go traffic - it was so nice to be on electric - when traffic creeped ahead a bit, you let up on the brake and touched the gas a little and it moved quietly along with traffic then when things slowed, we just let up on the gas and only hit the brake to make a complete stop. I watched the mpg climb in the traffic of Atlanta and Nashville instead of plummet like my JT did in that traffic. Smooth as silk in stop and go and city traffic.
I hope finances get better moving forward and FCA does something like this with the Gladiator.
OTOH, as I told my wife - if it was just me, a younger guy, doing the driving I normally do, I'd be all over a JL 4xe in a heartbeat and have a truck for when I need a truck and the JL would be my daily driver.
Nice having the JT but I only have it because i need a truck, if it wasn't for NEEDING a truck, I'd be in a Wrangler myself. Likely a 4xe.

We have a JTM, and love doing some mild off roading. We also have a gas getter for local runs ( mainly being an Uber for our kids ). When shopping around, we briefly looked at some 4xe, and I kind of regret not test driving one. I would imagine that a 4xe with doors off would be quite nice through parks in the fall. We will likely keep some form of a PHEV in the stables, and for the Jeeps, I’m interested in content/equipment for overlanding. I would think that you wouldn’t need a redarc or anything, and could power a fridge, lights, heated blanket, …?

Take a Mojave on a good long test drive, then go home in your JLU. Then do the same again. If you prefer the driving feel go for it! I loved my Mojave, but apparently so did the thieves that took it! Are the 4xe's getting stolen like mad? If not maybe that's a keeping point if theft is a concern in your area..

Do i love my Mojave? Yes? Is it slow as balls for a sporty dune truck? also yes. I'll be AMW 392 swapping mine. Which at that point will bring me up to should've just bought a 392 wrangler. But i want a truck. If you don't like/want a truck then the Mojave ain't it imo. especially coming from a 4xE which can fuckin scoot or so i've been told. Btw i avg 15.7 mpg on my 30 mile commute. I only see 19-20 mpg on long highway trips.

Heck yeah. Check out 4xe forums and the 4xe section in the Wrangler forums. Some don't even regear. Some get lifted like any other Jeep

There's a power supply option......

Wife has a JL Sahara and me a Mojave, her JL gets 20 around home mostly very short trips in hilly area and tops was 24 highway on long trip, Mojave gets three MPG less , at 17-18 and 21 highway. I have a 170 pound RSI cap and 100 pound fridge setup , a 70 pound winch on front and perhaps 100 pounds of various skids under truck.
Mojave long wheelbase rides much better then Sahara, but the big tires give it heavier steering feel and they are getting loud with miles on them, next set will be a tiny bit taller skinny tires. You do you, I think you will be happy either way!….Jack
