3,500 miles on my 25 Mojave X. Just went broadside on the highway with an F350 from the power company. Both fender flares are toast. The passenger mirror is missing the back and the blind spot isn’t working. The rear passenger tire and rim are both trashed. I’m don’t think there is any structural damage. More than anything I’m just extremely pissed off because my JT is brand new.

How would you proceed? Would you try to find a wheel/tire on marketplace? Take whatever the insurance company offers and put it towards upgrading rather than replacing? I’ve never been in this situation and I have no idea how to even proceed.

I don’t know how the insurance companies are going to determine fault. There is no police report. The guy in the utility truck just gave me his info, took mine, and drove off. I’ve already started a claim with my insurance (USAA). I have a $1,000 deductible (because I haven’t filed a claim in 15+ years and would rather pay $1K once than more each month).

So, what are your thoughts?

Doesn’t look bad enough to get rid of it and buy another , fender and mirrors are easy , two new tires and rims perhaps, there are guys here doing more damage then that going off-road. See what your insurance says , fault will now be tough cause both will deny it is their fault, so move on and get truck fixed. Good luck!….Jack

Yeah, I guess I should specify. Getting rid of it isn’t on the table. This is my dream truck. I had it delivered from a dealership several hours away because it’s exactly what I wanted and I plan to keep it long term.

I’m trying to decide if I should just have the insurance company put it back to stock or if I should somehow try to spin this into a positive thing and use the opportunity to upgrade.

Since it is new…… and under factory warranty…

I would go thru the insurance process and let them take care of it.
Wash your hands of it. Be the person who follows up and makes phone calls to ensure everything is done properly.

Contact your dealership to alert them of the claim - just in case.

Even better….. if your insurance company will allow repairs to be done thru your dealership (pending what needs done), would probably be beneficial. I only say that for future issues. They‘re less likely to deny warranty work later on……when they’ve done the work.

That’s something I hadn’t considered, but it makes sense. Definitely something to take into account. Thank you.

Go to the other guy's insurance and let your insurances duke it out. And always call the cops. Make them actually be good for something for once. Driving off from an accident is an offense in some places.

As for your damage, this is an opportunity. Yeah it sucks this happened but your damage is minor and maybe now you can look at some mods.

Same. Take what insurance gives and do the repairs. If they give you a bit extra put it into a DASHCAM!!!!!! Wolfbox or something similar so that you can have a video account of what happens. Then there’s no question of fault.

Having been in a similar situation with a prior vehicle and I have USAA. Definitely go thru them and ask about a USAA preferred repair shop. Using them means USAA will warranty the repairs, but I don’t remember the term. Like you, I have been with them for YEARS and they have my home, property, etc insured with them. Never had a claim before that and my rates didn’t go up.

All you have to do is keep in touch with the body shop. Visit them often and reassure your Jeep it’ll be okay.

Go through your insurance.
You can choose an body shop you like. Find one that does quality work.

When it comes to repairs, you can have the body shop take the money from any damage and put it towards what you like.

Most common with wheels, but I guess you could put different fenders on as well.
Just make sure you are getting the value of OEM parts and not aftermarket.

Very happy to see there were no injuries and your Jeep isn't hurt too badly. If that's where I think it is, northwest of OKC, at the wrong time of day that could have easily been much worse.

As others have said, let the insurance companies fight it out. Unless you have a lot of mods planned for the Mojave, I'd let them take it back to stock.

Seriously, get a good dash cam, one with a rear camera too. I use THIS Viofo A229 Plus (3ch w/ inc. rear cam). They offer an external rear camera accessory, which I plan to get soon for the the top comes off. It's a true 2k Sony Starvis sensor with HDR capability on both cameras to help in low light. If you want 4k, get the A229 Pro.

I had someone riding my ass yesterday, and they saw me reach for the camera and immediately backed off.
