Thanks for listing/sharing all of these campers. I was only familiar with the Scout, Alu-Cab and Four Wheel Campers. The Phoenix one looks great, I like that it can be removed. The Alu-Cab Canopy Camper is something you don't remove until you it or the truck. I'm still deciding on which Gladiator which is partially because I can't decide between the diesel and gas.

I really don't think that the Phoenix camper would be a good solution for a gladiator. The weight of just the camper exceeds or at least approaches the payload of a gladiator, you have no more payload available for passengers and gear. And then it would drive horribly off-road with that much weight on it. Just my opinion. Why buy a midsize Jeep gladiator with all that off-road capability and then saddle it up with so much weight that you cannot enjoy driving it off-road?

I just got back from Overland Expo Mountain West (the one in Colorado) and got to chat some with some of the guys that make or import some of these slide-in/toppers.

After talking at the GFC booth for a booth, both with a customer who's truck was there (a Tacoma long bed) and with Garrett (one of the founders) i'm pretty strongly pro GFC again.

I didn't talk with the SuperPacific guys but did take some pictures of their stuff. Very nice in person.

There was a new one I hadn't seen yet... check out Skinny Guy Campers... you enter from the side, it's a very unique design. The website doesn't have a lot of imagery but their Instagram does. https://www.instagram.com/skinnyguycampers/ They start at $16k

300 watts solar panels, 240 amp lithium batteries, 2000 watts inverter with 40amp charger
Did you replace the Gladiator's alternator with a larger alternator? I'm doing a build and was wondering if I should do a dual battery setup under the hood and increase the size of the alternator, or go with something like a Jackery 2000 with solar and charging from the Gladiator. Any thoughts?
Here's a mockup of what I'm building.

Looking good, no still original alternator, my panels are more then sufficient, lithium is a must 80% discharge rate VS 50 for agm
My Vitrifrigo runs on 12 volts fun time no propane in camper at all. Run diesel for heating and hot water
Thanks, I'm also going without propane and lithium is the way to go. I think the charging rate might be higher than AGM also. I'm actually thinking induction cooktop, and/or 700 watt microwave. My camper design is open to the cab, and if Jeep had a diesel on the Gladiator I would have just used the A/C and heat from the engine. Running the gas engine overnight will work for both A/c and heat , but will drain the tank quickly. I can live without the A/C, but will need heat. What diesel heater did you use?

I picked up a Super Pacific Switchback X1 over the weekend. I am blown away by the quality of this thing. Official weight for the Gladiator comes in at 348lbs, so right in between the GFC and the AluCab. Happy to answer any questions that are helpful.

Sweet rig.

Any pics of how it mounts to the bed?

Do you have the OEM rail system?

Can you leave the bedding in the tent/bed when closed?

Need to get some detailed shots, but they mounted it to the standard bed rails (I don’t have trail rails). This is the 5th Gladiator they’ve done and all others had Trail rails. They have a robust system for that. We ended up mounting to two OEM holes in the front of the bed toward the cab, two OEM holes at the back toward the tailgate covered by a punch out, and a third set of clamps in the middle. Overall a sturdy solution but I will eventually upgrade to the OEM Trail Rail system. The guys were great and supplied all of the hardware I’ll need to make that switch.

Will have to Snap some detailed interior pictures, but suffice to say that it is so well thought out. Wire chases and mounting options galore. More to come.

How well does it keep out dust? One thing I've read about the alu-cabs is that they are pretty well sealed since they replace the tailgate with the barn door. Any issues?
