No moose MVA but 5-6 deer with vehicles on patrol. Had to do the report on Jack wagon reckless speeding hit a black angus calf in the road why I say Jack wagon he was in the on coming lane when he hit it sports car over 70 and year old calf is a bad combo. If he was in his lane he would have missed it. School teachers and staff are another group early in morning still dark eating, grading papers, putting on makeup, talking on phone and speeding then hitting wild hogs, deer, ect. Damn I don't miss that anywhere from 5-20 plus during fall in GA. daily. Quite often in AL. with deer and hogs in parts of the state.
On the trip was on had several close ones with deer and antelope from TN to N.M and back.
Sorry for you and your Jeep... Damn glad you walked away Moose kill, horses kill, elk hospital, deer sometimes, hogs can flip a car or super compact a small car at stupid speeds. Another reason why I drive Jeeps or trucks.

The more I look at it, I can't believe that the insurance company would want to even think about repairing it. Just the sheet metal parts and side panels, would, IMO, be at least 10k USD, that's if they can get the parts. On a truck that new, I would insist on real Jeep parts, not cheap Chinese shit.

Even the steel winch bumper, as I mentioned in another thread, is extremely hard to get here in the US. When buying mine last January, I was looking at another Rubicon that I liked but didn't have the steel winch bumper. I asked several parts people at different dealerships about getting one and they told me it would be somewhere close to $2000 installed if they could get it. They had not seen one in a year and had no idea when one would be available. Another dealer told me he couldn't even find a part number for it. I asked him what they would do, as is your case, if I am in an accident and need a new bumper. He simply shrugged his shoulders and said " I haven't had that situation happen yet" or something similar.

I would just say insist on the Mopar parts and it will be totaled.

I was fortunate -- found the semi twin - a 20K mile just missing the heated seats, remote start and aux switches.. that is it in my avatar.

UPDATE: Appraiser just let me know that this case looks like a total loss. He’s still gathering the info he needs and I should have his figures tonight.
Hope the numbers come in strong.. good luck on the search for another ride.

Sooo…theres a few things I can take off the truck. It was towed and dropped off in the alley and my question is….

Since the air bag was deployed, does anyone know if I will be able to start the truck, put it in gear and put this thing in my heated garage to do the stuff I need to do? I will of course top up the coolant bottle for this quick little endeavour.

Only way to know is to try. Not going to hurt it more than it is.
