The reason I switched from the 5th wheel was because the tongue weight of the Deluxe model was 500# and a was harder to hook up by myself. The Scamp is actually not a 5th wheel, is is a Gooseneck. The 16 foot standard Scamp weight is 2500# and I was able to jerk it over a hair if I was off. However now that I have the zoom backup camera with the Max Tow package I don't have to get out of the truck anymore.

8.5x24' with 7 foot ceiling. Hauls my tractor, or my UTV+son's ATV and camping gear, or a broken down car in a pinch. We sleep in it, camp out of it, and use it for work chores. It can do anything.

ha, one of my fav's so far, built my own 4 season off grid adventure pod, just called it our adventure pod, beach wagon has a much better ring, well actually we named it 'Steve' to be more precise but Steve is our adventure pod, love the lighting, i put a disco ball in mine and some sat. radio, haven't put ours on a beach yet, close but not on, this winter it's going on some ice and will fish right through holes in the floor and sleep out there, the beach will happen one day i'm sure, our four seasons are spring bear hunting, fishing, hunting, ice fishing (spring, summer, fall, winter) ;) :)

I get the differences between the fifth wheel and a traditional hook up but I just can’t see how it makes sense for such a small travel trailer… Not trying to start a big thing here it’s just baffling to me
I also tow a Polaris Ranger, and sometimes my fishing boat with us as well. I can do it behind my Scamp, but would have to take a second vehicle if I just had a travel trailer. I can haul a lot more with this setup than I could just in the bed of the Gladiator.

Midlife crisis! Lol. Within less than a year- from an old 19ft hybrid , to a Forest River EVO 23.5ft, and now a 26.5ft Forest River SONOMA 2200MBH Mountain Edition with Artic package. Dry wt 5343 ouch! Good I kept my G with max tow pkg. I almost sold it to buy a diesel.
We got tired of setting up the hybrid. So we upgraded to an EVO with bunkbeds, but soon discovered it's too small for us (3) and our stuff. The old hybrid trailer had more storage space! Or maybe we just have too much camping gears! So we have decided to upgrade again one with a slide out, triple bunks, and more storage space. It is on the heavy side but is still within the G's tow capacity.
Now my front yard really looks like an rv dealership or a camp ground. Hahaha! I have to sell the EVO when I have the time. I sold the hybrid in 24 hours. I hope I can do the same with the EVO. So glad we don't have HOA.

Finally done a little bit of towing with mine. Towed a utility trailer with an ATV and a cultipacker on it; no issues obviously.

Moved my boat from the marina to our camp for detailing, then on to storage ahead of a trip to TN next week with it. A 2006 Chaparral 220 SSi, 6000 lbs with trailer. Only went about 7 miles total, but was pretty impressed. Excellent on ramp and up the hill leaving the marina. No highway stuff, but a little 2 lane stuff was just fine.

2021 Gladiator Overland
Today was the first real towing I did with my gladiator. Towed my boat from N.O.L.A. area over to the Destin FL. Trip is right at 175 miles on I-10.
Boat and trailer set up is 6k lbs.
Gladiator did fine. I kept my speed around 60-65. I mostly kept the 8 speed in manual mode. Seems to do well in 6th gear. Occasionally I would downshift to 5th on bridges.
Averaged 10 mpg.
All the temps seemed fine, and today was extremely hot.
Coolant stayed between 210-220.
Oil stayed 220-230
Trans was 200-205.
Overall it did good. The manual shifting is the way to go.

Brought home my old girl tonight, 1987 Whaler Revenge 20 about 5,000 Lbs. Including half tank of fuel (40 gal.) have had her 17 years but been a trailer queen since 2014, friend is after me to sell her, beings I am in a downsizing mood traded Suburban for Mojave, sold old kayak tourny camper to friend last week. I have had four boats, Whalers sre amazing. Whaler people are like Jeep people! Mojave really surprised me towing with a hitch ball little low, came over the Emmaus hill by my house doing sixty in fourth gear , spent most of its time in 5th -7th gear. Fun coming up my driveway hill then backing it down turning, took three tries.
Still not sure I can sell her, I made beautiful solid seating through out with custom cushions, “Bulldog” is my name on most forums and clubs, it’s a Mack truck family thing, here Bulldog was taken.
Have decided Mojave is getting a black or orange bulldog on the hood!….Jack

I guess we just got lucky. It comes with 8 yr extended warranty, coating/paint protection(?), and other upgrades. So as soon as I saw it, we grabbed the opportunity to buy it even before selling my 2020 EVO tt, of which I still need to find time to sell. Lol. Been busy camping!
It was the best decision for us. Although it's just the 2 of us camping most of the times, the extra space is great! Especially when friends visit us. This tt is on the heavier side, but we just pack lighter now...less junk. Hahaha! And good thing all of my future campsite reservations are full hook ups. I don't have to haul any water!
Yes, that newer model is about 1200# heavier dry wt.it has better bunk beds tho.
Hey, we actually saw the exact year and model as ours at a Ventura, CA dealer. Of course, the wifey wants to compare. We called the dealer. Their asking price is $29k, so we really made a very sweet deal on ours!! That was last weekend. Let me know if you want to check it out and I'll find the phone #
