Why do you always run in manual mode? Just preference?
When you are in Auto mode watch how the shifts are all dragged out, hell many times to get into 7 & 8 gear you're running 50 +.
In manual I can short shift and be in top gear at 41MPH. By doing this it greatly ingress the MPG.
I guess it goes back to my roots of driving a stick shift.

It's cool as long you're not lugging the trans and engine to gains a couple mpg.

I've been driving for 55+ yrs with at least 3/4 of that driving a stick and diesel engines I'm well versed in how not to lug an engine.

Aaahhh…the ‘ol skip shift witchcraft. Never thought of using it on the German tranny.

As a safety margin the trans won't let you shift too prematurely like under 33MPH for 7th and 8th is 41 mph so you can't do something really stupid like rolling 25 mph and dumping it in 8th gear.
