Most likely the sugar is still sitting in the fill tube. There is a portion of the tube that goes almost horizontal before entering the tank. And there is a anti siphon valve at the tank that stays closed. This is a picture of the valve from my bore scope. This is on an empty tank. You can disconnect the fill tube at the tank. It's just hose clamped on.

It's really only a problem when you start losing the debate to yourself.
The voices in my head have staff meetings and I'm never invited. I can hear them talk about me. What worries me is when they say "what are we going to do with his body after we are done?"

it's a crime to tamper with a motor vehicle - what would be hilarious is if they were charged with tampering with the emissions control system for adding sugar to the Evap system.
Op tested the substance, so I think the crime scene was tampered with.

Sorry guys, no exciting back story. I believe it happened during the Superbowl as that is the only time the garage door was open. Yes, it was in the garage. I took the Jeep out that morning to get some beer and brats for the game (also filled the gas tank). I usually close the garage door but for some reason I left it open. I did not close it until after the game when I went to bed. Garage door has been closed and I have not driven it since. Noticed the white crystal stuff Thursday evening when I went in the garage to get a tool. I am Widowed and don't have any enemies (that I know of). I am totally baffled. Someone just walking down the sidewalk with a bag of sugar says "hey, that garage door is open, I think I will dump my sugar in the gas tank.
I did call the cops. just to make a report and see if this is a trend around here.
I will have time tomorrow to drop the tank and go from there.
Thanks for all the advice,
Varooom

He's watched too many cop shows where they taste the white substance.

Perhaps a roving gang of sugar-ers? Do you by chance live on a hill? Who's your prime suspect? Wonder Mike, Hank, or Master G?

I’m 100% for free speech and individual liberties— and know one more car won’t change the world— but this… this makes my heart sad.
I will gladly tell anybody that’ll listen that big corporations are ruining this world. I Paid $30k for my HVAC unit which is super efficient, and I’m pretty happy that theTVA is shutting down their biggest coal plant to go to natural gas at the Cumberland plant. And my clan comes from coal country, so I’m not really interested in hearing about who it impacts… the coal dust killed a bunch of relatives, so I also consider it a far safer way to go.

But Jeep Gladiators and newer Wranglers dont amount to a thimble full of water out of the oceans when it comes to pollution. Look up ship breaking. Look up the mountain sized landfills in India that are burning every Day. Look at the maps of private planes leaving the Super Bowl. We Americans are being tricked into thinking that we can individually make a difference, and unless we are just outright burning tires in the backyard or have members here who have their own jets, we aren’t the problem. Should we do what we can? Sure. But we little folk ain’t the issue.

Exactly. Or the “recycling” just being sold and dumped on the ground. Or car batteries. And appliances. Dumped. All that stuff. Me going off grid won’t do anything. Even just all of the upward mobility in India and China that now get air conditioners. That’s why the “how dare you” sticker is saddening. The context of that speech was against the powers at be, not good Jeep people like us. I guess it’s down to an alien invasion to unite everybody, like in Independence Day.
