So I have a 2021 with the newer replacement steering box (which was the source of steering issues from what I hear) and am about to start building. Nothing crazy, just 3.5” Clayton lift with 37’s but my question was, is a steering bracket still recommended? Thanks!

I think its a case by case basis. Ive seen both schools of though on this forum with folks and the brace. If you have it, why not put it on. I have mine still and haven't reinstalled since I got the steering box done. Really this is just because I'm lazy and haven't spent the time disassemble the front.

No expert, but I would think that wider tires would have affect the tracking the most, and it would play out as Wider tire = larger contact surface = more input to steer, but also more precise steer. and that could translate to stronger reactions to bigger road imperfections, but also maybe just absorb the smaller bumps. Interested to hear what others have to say on the topic.

I have had to steering box replaced under the TSB and my JT still wanders. (I'm sure the roads in PA don't help either, haha). I'm running 35x12.5's with no lift, so I am guessing the added weight of these things are contributing to it. I'm actively researching the sector brace(s), and as funds free up a little, I will be installing one.

I am about to put this on and it came with 4 long bolts. The instructions and videos online make no mention of replacing the factory ones, but say to reuse the factory ones that hold the steering box. Why did it come with these 4 long bolts? Just in case?

It depends which factory steering box you have. I believe the steel steering box requires the bolts they provide.

That’s what I thought too. I fully expected my wander to get worse with the 35s, but it got 50-60% better. I have zero explanation as to why. Better tires, lower pressure, I don’t know.

You know the old saying, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Like someone else said, case by case basis. I bought a synergy brace from someone who sold their jeep before using it for $100. But, I haven't needed it. Couldn't pass up a deal. Lol. But, I'm holding on to it just in case. But yea, case by case. If you install the lift and you aren't having an issue, don't bother. You might create an issue that way.

I recommend it as it stiffens up the whole area. Made a noticeable difference in mine. I looked at it as preserving a good steering box to begin with then I felt the difference in tracking. Its usually a sum of all the little things you upgrade steering wise that make the difference like little things like bushing type in control arms , track bars. Geometry

I have the Synergy brace and I thought I could feel a difference after I put it on. I have 37s so I thought I should get it . Synergy is a top quality product.

I put a Steer Smarts brace on mine which came with the steel steering box. It definitely made a difference in tightening up the steering.
