For you guys that have monitors... is there any resources that tell you what to monitor ? What to actually do with the information that you are monitoring ? Or do you just keep an eye on the regeneration cycles and when one close, you say "SELF" I need to take a long highway speed drive ?
Also
Anyone ever actually gone into limp mode or not able to start their vehicle because of this ?

On my Ram I monitor the exhaust gas temp at the DPF. When it is over 1000F and higher than at the turbo outlet, it is doing an active regen. Hopefully the EcoDiesel has actual PIDs (diagnostic parameter IDs) that can be monitored for % full and active regeneration in process.

I set up the same four: regen on/off, soot mass percent full (STM), boost (BST), turbo housing temp (TRB)

I started with the scangauge on top of the dash. Worked for me but blocked some visibility for my shorter lady. I like this spot, very inconspicuous and install is super easy

Im looking at the scangauge III... but it's atleast $120. more than the Scangauge II. Currently trying to figure out if the nice color touch screen, multiple page views and added functionality are worth it. The more user friendly and convenient, the more likely I would use it as designed... so leaning towards biting the bullet and paying extra for the SG3.
Anyone have any experience with both versions ? The SG3, comes with a window suction mount, so it will tuck away nicely up in the left corner of the dash, just in front of the dash speaker...

Anyone have Pics of the Scangauge III mounted up ?

I used OBD Fusion app and the Veepeak OBD adapter. Total cost $40. Easy option. When the active regen (AR) light comes on I keep driving until it’s done. That simple.

I almost exclusively drive in town. Per my Banks monitor, my distance between active regens is 360 miles. I have gotten the old message of death 3 times in the last 10 months (at <10K miles).

If you primarily do short trips, one suggestion is to warm it up for about 10 minutes before your drive. Longer in cooler weather.

I went through this for the first time last weekend. I'm at 2100 miles and mostly do short trips. I got on the highway cruising at or around 70mph, after 15mins the message changed from "continue driving" to "complete".
Pretty simple, just plan a trip on the highway or open road next time you get the message. It was approximately 12 mile trip to complete.
Sure, it’s simple to go drive another 15 minutes after you get that message. Problem is you don’t know how many times you’ve stopped the process from completing when there is fuel and 1,200 degree combustion gases cycling through your aftertreatment system. The message isn’t proactive, it is a strong warning that further failures to finish the process will cause immediate harm.

In my experience passive regen temps are around 700-800 degrees, so without knowing you are stopping the system dead in its tracks at a time when it is running 50% hotter than normal. I’m not an engineer or emissions systems expert, but repeating this cycle cannot be good for the longevity of the system. If you don’t plan to keep your Glad for the long haul or are planning a delete, maybe it doesn’t matter to you. IMO an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, considering only the costs of replacement parts.

Do you ever have any "connection" issues ? I have read ghat the Bluetooth adapter/app method has connection and information lag issues. This is why I was leaning towards a direct connection.

I always warm it up and cool it down. But I have read, leaving it to idle for a while can really plug up the DPF and cause more regenerations. Maybe someone with some experience can chime in.

The question wasn’t for me but I have no connection issues whatsoever with the adapter I use. Connects quick and is almost in lockstep with oem gauges for the same data points. Nice thing about the Bluetooth route is flexibility, there when I want to use it and easy to put away if not.

What app are you running ? I have my phone mounted like you, so no need to make any adjustments. Could you possibly gice a clear shot of your screen and explain what you are displaying ? Thanks
