It was on both the trucks I test drove back to back last year (or was it the previous?) but from what I gather GM has eliminated that interior from that AT4 but kept it on the AT4x. Shame because the GMC interiors are otherwise rather nice.

I haven't sat in anything newer from GM than a 2016 Denali 2500 - which was nice.

I just need to stay away. My Gladiator is fine, lol.

These types of posts puzzle me. You are on a Jeep enthusiast site, asking people to talk you out of a Ford product. What do you think would happen if you went to a Ford enthusiast site and ask the same question?
agree they are sound great on paper, but there is still a lot to learn about the RR long term and how it ages.
Go sit in one (back seat it TINY) and drive one. You're most likely gonna get the same answer from everyone here about whether to keep your JT.

IDK, I like the GM trucks but GMC is really no more than a fancy trimmed Chebby. Then again, I'm an outlier in my family: Dad has a Sierra Denali, both sisters have AT4 Yukons and my brother in law has a Sierra HD Diesel.

I grew up in a family that owned primarily Chevrolets and GMC's. I have always owned one myself, and still have two. Though I also grew up around some old Jeeps very early, so I guess that's in my heritage so to speak, lol.

Life is too short to get hung up on a vehicle. Enjoy them as long as you want and when you're ready, do some research and try something new if you like.

I'm probably in the middle. The moment I find a little too much glitter in the oil filter I'm dumping it at the dealer for something else.

OK, first of all, we don't love, nor should we love, material things. We are more than stuff.
Having said that, keep the gladiator. This looks like a "Grass is greener on the other side of the hill" thing. That is a hollow/empty dream. Keep the JT because you already have it sorted the way you want it. Install a 5.7 Hemi to fix the lack-of-power issue. With the money you will lose, you can pay for some of the V8 swap.
Jeep ownership is much more and deeper than owning the latest thing to come out of Detroit. Our community has depth, history, and a worldwide following. Ford raptor, what's that? (Something someone will say in 15 years).
You will lose a bunch of money trading or selling the JT. You will pay extra for a Raptor that will immediately evaporate the second you sign the contract. You will not have completely enjoyed everything the JT is capable of.
Don't like the ride? Stop watching the view and buy some good man pants. Not trying to insult at all here, but seriously, we're men, right? We like bumpy/rough rides. Those who don't need to buy a pedicure, get their eyebrows styled, or whatever else girly men do. (The ride is not the problem). Again, not intending to insult, but some of the youth are just too girly and need a stiff slap in the face to wake them back up.
The JT is about the best Jeep has ever produced. Stick a loud V8 in it and keep it for 20 years.
Again, please do not take it personally; I just tire of hearing men complain of piss-ant things.

Ford has more recalls in the last couple years than all other manufacturers comined. Ford considers your "privacy" THEIR profit via data sales. Ford doesn't believe in the Right to Repair.

Also, power number are just that...numbers. What REALLY matters is WHERE those numbers are made in the RPM band. That's why a 500whp car will feel feel faster around town than a 1000whp car of with the same gearing/engine.
-Please also look at TORQUE and where THAT number is made.
-- Also nannies prevent you from generally having real world access to those stated numbers when actually driving in real world conditions.

Just because a vehicle makes more power, doesn't always guarantee more fun to drive. There's a reason the GR Corolla with its turbo 3cyl making 400hp is more fun to drive than the new E-Ray Corvette or a 700whp mustang. The ability to actually put down that power in a usable form where you actually drive will determine how much fun you can really have.
- You'll never actually see use from 700whp in traffic.
-- You'll wish you didn't have 500hp in the winter when you hit black ice.
--- You'll wish you didn't have to fight TC/VSC when trying to pass some twat in a Camero on the highway in the rain.


As @Bandit’s Lair said, drive to the lot, test drive anything you might be considering, and their competitors. Research the overall reliability of the brand, and long term owner reviews before trading something you don't have issues with.

In the end, it's your choice, your money, and your happiness. This is just an internet forum of people who share their thoughts, opinions (mostly this), and experiences. So take most of it with a grain of salt, and not the full truth.

I owned a 94 F250 7.3 PS XL 5-speed stick. I would still have it but my training wife sold it without my knowing while I was away training...!
7.3 powerjoke is (to me) second to the earlier Cummins 6BT with everything else being a distant third/forth/fifth

I drove the Raptor and the Tacoma, as well as the Canyon.
Tacoma felt cheap and a harsh ride.
The Raptor felt small and honestly not all that powerful.
I settled on the Canyon. Denali trim because it had everything I wanted and needed.
Heated and ventilated seats, leather, all the cameras, etc. Plenty of power.
The truck has been overall pretty good. The Infotainment system is the weak link, and there are some ongoing concerns over the durability of the transmission.
Like all of these new things, they have damned sensors watching other sensors, and usually a "failure" is simply a sensor crapping out.
I'm at two years and 19,000 miles, so it hasn't been used a lot and it won't be.
21.4 MPG lifetime.
Lots of chrome on the Denali. I could've lived with less of that.

I'd say drive them all, and maybe even rent some candidates for a weekend before jumping all in.
I still miss the Mojave some days. Some days I don't.

I'm hearing that Ram's Dakota is going to be a gamechanger. I'd wait for the Dakota but keep the Gladiator. Afterall, the Gladiator and Dakota will be so different from each other that it might make sense to keep both.

I am really thinking about parting with my dialed in and modded JT. The Ranger Raptor has me in a spell. I don't do boulders or Rubicon type trails. I don't tow. Looks like the Raptor has everything the Gladiator needs. Muchmore HP, much smoother ride, quieter. If there is an issue with the Raptor I have not heard of it. Please give me reason not to go there.

Ha ha, the old demon of temporary happiness bites all of us from time to time. But, the best way to not go down that road and gain, then lose that fleeting temporary happiness and feeling is to remember the words of Ray Benson from Asleep at the Wheel “you’ve got to dance with who brung you, swing with who swung you”. I’d stick with the Gladiator, the longer term happiness is worth it in my opinion. I come to that conclusion as a man that has been married to the same woman for almost 50 years. Times aren’t always perfect so quit looking for that and ‘dance with the one who brung you’. Everything in this world is temporary but sticking to the solid things is worth it. “Squirrel moments” come and go, the important things stay.

Life's short. If you lost the love for the JT and want to try something different, do it. You can always go back to a JT in the future if you decide you made the wrong decision. But as you know, it will cost you. Especially when you splurge on after market parts.
