They’ll also crack and fall apart before wearing out, which is why I don’t run them anymore.
I've had 2 sets of tires like that in my life.. KO2s (put 55k on a set and still had tread) and the OG toyo open country ATs. I put 65k on a set of those and told my wife I wouldn't go bigger until they wore out.. I finally pulled up to a parking block on a rainy day and did a smoky burnout to finish them off

Have about 30k miles on Toyo Open Country RT. They been pretty good. If I get another 20k out of them. I'm ordering another set.

I like KO2's... they last a loooonnngg time. I got 65,000 plus on the first set, and the second set went away with a Jeep I sold - they still had plenty of tread after 35,000 miles. I never had a flat- they were never hard to balance. But the 37 inch tire is like short of 34 inches tall with weight on them. I ran nitto ridge grapplers on the gladiator-(trying a new tire)- they are about spent at 30,000 miles... I might get another 5000 on them. I rotate tires every 3500-4000 miles. Its what I do to make them last... The nitto's are just fading fast, must be a softer rubber? So I just got the yokohama X-AT 37's at my house yesterday... 270 a tire, they look like a great hybrid tire. Next to the ridge grappler the diameter is one inch more around the whole tire. My ridge grapplers are 34.6 tall with weight on the tires. I've been told the x-at's are over 36.2 on the vehicle at 32 lbs. So 1 inch more clearance- so I'm going to try them. I hope they last a while longer than the nitto's!

Why do people not like like the K02’s anymore? I’ve run them for decades, still running them, never had any issues or complaints and I love them. I don’t see how it could get any better when I’ve been completely satisfied with mine. Anyone care to elaborate?
They’re teeny.

Time for some new tires and was curious to get some feedback. As of right now, I've narrowed it down to a few. I am currently running the Nitto Trail Grapplers and seemed to have had good luck with them, so they are on the lists. My local shop mentioned he like the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT. Another shop said they like the Falken Wildpeak MT but have been doing a lot of the Maxxis Raxr MT lately. So I guess I'm trying to decide between these. The Maxxis and Falken seem to be a little lower in price (about $20 to $30 per tire) based upon the quotes I received.
  • Nitto Trail Grappler
  • Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT
  • Falken Wildpeak MT
  • Maxxis Raxr MT
With that said, how would you rate these? 1st choice, 2nd choice, etc.
BF Goodrich TA KO2s all day long...

KO2's = quiet, good tread life and lighter weight than most other options. Don't have to rotate as often as others. Just my personal experience.

I appreciate the suggestions of the BF Goodrich TA KO2s and I know they are a quality tire. They just aren't what I'm looking for though. Really looking for an MT. I'm down to the following. Just tryibg to decide.
  • Nitto Trail Grappler (been running them and they've lasted quite a while)
  • Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT (seems to be a good option and may run a little better on a daily driver)
  • Falken Wildpeak MT (seems to be a good option and may run a little better than the Nitto TG on a daily driver)
I've seen where some replies I have received have said if you were to rate them they would say if for more off-road and rocks then go with the Nitto TG. IF daily on road and frequent off-road then go with the Falken Wildpeak MT. And the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT was in the middle of these three. Any thoughts or comments on this evaluation/rating?

K02s are AT, most of the other options here are MT. The Recon Grapplers are AT, the Ridge Grapplers are somewhere in between as are a few other newer hybrids.

All that being said, the K02s are also snow rated (they have the little mountain/snowflake symbol) so they are great choice if anywhere that requires actual snow tires in the winter or if you spent a lot of time traveling in nasty winter conditions.

Duratracs would be the other choice but sadly they only come in 35s.

Generally speaking the MT tires will be louder on the highway, wear out faster but do have more grip in mud or on rocks (bigger lugs, more sidewall lugs etc.). The AT tires are less aggressive, quieter on the road and typically are better in winter road driving conditions.

I ran Duratracs for years on my JK and Taco, they didn't last very long but they were "Good enough" at everything to accept the compromises off road and were winter rated so that was a plus. Currently running Nitto Trail Grappers on this JT and Ridge Grapplers on our JL. As expected, the Ridge Grapplers are better behaved on the road than the Trail Grapplers. The Trail Grapplers are somewhat better off-road but we don't have any complaints about the Ridge Grapplers at all.

I've seen where some replies I have received have said if you were to rate them they would say if for more off-road and rocks then go with the Nitto TG. If that's your short list then I think you are bang on. Biggest question might be which ones can you actually source.....

My 37" Baja Boss M/Ts have been through literally everything possible on the road up in the PNW mountains (Light rain; heavy rain; mud; light snow; packed snow; deep snow to the frame rails; 2+inches straight ice with no snow layer etc.). They have exceeded my expectations in every way. They balance easy, ride smooth, not too loud, and are wearing very well. I would not hesitate to recommend even for people wanting an A/T. Even then, the Baja Boss A/T has stellar reviews and even has a mileage warranty.

From a daily driver perspective, I would put the Baja Boss as 1st, Falken's 2nd, then the Nitto's 3rd. All great tires and since you are in Texas, many more tires would be considered okay for daily driving ;-)

Cheers
