I once used the leather laces out of my Sperry Topsider shoes to finish plugging a sidewall after I ran out of plugs. Got me home from Albert Pike, Arkansas to Oil City, Louisiana LATE on a Sunday.
That is awesome! Kentucky engineering!!

Necessity brother. Had a job I couldn't afford to lose and had to be there.

Yep. And not to mention getting towed out of a trail can cost upwards of $1,000 bucks, besides causing possibly a very long hike or long stay in beautiful nature.

I was on a skidder back deep in the tn mountains and got a bad hole in a tire. All that was in the work truck was a kit made by green slime.i put 5 plugs in the one hole just to get going again and said I'll fix it when we come out. Well that was around 4 -5 year ago...why fix something again that's working

For punctures, I've used DynaPlug plugs on many different tires with great success. I like them because you don't have to ream out the puncture to make the hole bigger to install the plug. You just pull out the nail/screw/whatever and install the plug. I had an older kit with a plastic installer, but it eventually broke. I now use the aluminum Pro Extreme kit.

For temporary fix, any cheap kit will suffice. Get you to a tire shop then slap a patch inside the tire.

I would get a kit with a T-handle tool. The thick treads on our tires make it a major pain to push that plug cord through all the layers of ply. The heavier you weigh, the easier it is to get some weight onto that T-handle and push the cord in.

I like the compact one from Ironman4x4 for these very reasons. The orange box ARB kit I bought years ago has rarely been used because it ends up somewhere that's never convenient to get to when I need it. This little guy is small enough to be stored somewhere immediately accessible and cheap enough to buy one for every vehicle.

It is funny to me how some post go unnoticed. I would have never read this one if I just hadn't searched for a kit myself. I'll start by saying, I didn't find anything.

The reason I was looking is because I needed to repair a tire on a new zero turn. I finished my second cut with it last weekend ( 5 hts on the meter). I observed my son cutting around a stump when the rear tire was doing all kinds of ugly. I stopped him and noticed a cut in the sidewall. It didn't appear to be leaking and he finished the job.

Yesterday, I returned to the property and found that same tire to be flat. I assumed it was the cut on the sidewall. All of my tools and equipment are still at the old place. HF here I come. I picked up a cheap air compressor, jack and a fourway.

HF plug kits are garbage in my opinion. The tools are the worst part. I would like a nice plug tool kit.

I agree that the plastic handle HF kits are junk. However, I bought the Maddox MC891 heavy duty kit there for around $22., and I bet it’s as tough as the more expensive kits. Nice aluminum handled tools.

@Lost1wing For my mower I use Green Slime preemptively in all four tires,

I have replaced an ATV tire that was once filled with green slime. It was not pleasant. The ATV tire had a bulge in it from the slime being applied and not driven. I'm sure the lawnmower wouldn't care. I'd have to look into it some more before I put it in a tire.

This was the first time getting a flat on a lawnmower. I hope it never happens again.

Thanks for the idea. HF sells that stuff too.
