Tool kit / socket suggestions

This a great thread with great information.
I keep a soft tool bag with a little of everything. 1/4, 3/8 drive rachets, and sockets in SAE and Metric, pliers, snips, screw drivers, torx bits, torx sockets and torx drivers in a variety sizes. A small pipe wrench, channel locks, flashlight, and a adjustable wrench. I also keep a laser thermometer, and code reader too.

When you say a code reader, are you talking about a dedicated device or a bluetooth dongle that works with JSCAN?

Not directed at me - but I carry both. A dongle to use JSCAN with my truck and then I have a dedicated code reader for other vehicles.

Pipe wrench. That’s probably a good idea. Dont have one of those in the box.

Years ago. My cousin and her husband both retired at the same time. They rented a motorhome and drove to Alaska from Pittsburgh Pa. They spent 4 months driving all over Alaska. Said the biggest thing was the black flies. Had to wear a head net everytime they went outside.

The only tools you need. A small straight screwdriver, small philips, small vise grips, small ball peen, small adjustable wrench, small pipe wrench. You also need large screwdriver, large philips, large vise grips, large ball peen, large adjustable wrench, large pipe wrench. The small tools are for fine adjustments. The large tools are for course adjustments.

Agree with what everyone has said so far. Don’t need to go fancy for your Jeep tool kit. I don’t really have the big stuff in my bag. I think I stop at 19mm. But I’ve got a decent sized Ford wrench in there for oh shit tightening .
I’ve been using this tool roll for over 3 years now and it’s been fantastic. Any old durable tool roll will work. I keep this in my swing out side

I have found you can never have enough tools or spare parts. Most of the time I get my tools out it is to work on someone else's problem. I have saved the day for people just because I had a few zip ties, tape, and a hose clamp.

After a trip this past week, I'm needing to add some "Jeep Gladiator" bolts to my tool kit. I lost a caliper mount bolt. Fortunately someone I was with had a perfect bolt. I need to figure out what other common things are lost and have a spare.
