Traded my Mojave on a TRX Today.

You are incorrect sir... pretty soon it will be very common for most all electric pickups to have higher torque and HP than most all ICE pickups.

A single digit MPG in this economic environment and advancement in battery technology could likely make that TRX worth very little.

If you enjoy the big 8 and can afford a loss, then more power to you. I think the TRX is an awesome truck... but I think you have it wrong. The “expiring golden age of the V8 power plant ” is really just the manufactures grabbing money from your wallet... right before technology changes for the better.

Congratulations on the new truck! I love the TRX but not its price tag. Although trucks with power are obviously not as fun as sports cars I would not say not to a 700+HP pickup with offroad capabilities. I think you made a great choice if the JT was not for you. Post some pics when it arrives!

If you were a car person you would understand that no EV is going to give you the experience of driving a car or truck with a blown motor. The exhaust note and the whine of the blower alone gets the mojo going and the blood flowing.

I have driven Tesla's for the last decade and believe me EV's are not all they are cracked up to be.

First, charging stations are few and far between on several occasions i have waited four hrs before i was able to plug in. So if traveling it's always on your mind where your next charge will be, this alone cuts into the enjoyment.

Second is expense, you may not be paying for gas but your electric bill will increase. Having two EV's increased my bill $800 a month, i added solar and two Tesla power walls to help offset my electric bill and i still pull from the grid to the tune of $200 a month. So the 80k for solar and the power walls plus $200 a month has done nothing but empty my wallet.

On my S i had battery failure lucky under warranty, a $9500 battery was replaced but i had to pay the $2200 hazmat fee. You never want to purchase an expensive EV car or truck always lease as you do not want to own an EV more that 3 yrs, a friend bought an S and shortly after his warranty expired his right front motor needed to be replaced it cost him for the motor alone 28k i did not have the nerve to ask what was charged for it to be replaced.

Here in Cali we have rolling blackouts i know more than one person who did not have a charge in the morning.

Third, the specs can be impressive on some of these EV's but remember these are at full charge performance goes down as the battery loses power, with 25% battery it's recommended to drive conservative, turn off air, radio and all unnecessary devices.

After a decade of several last year i sold my last EV, i will not own another unless forced to do so. There is a sense of freedom and a weight lifted off my shoulders having them gone.

Just my opinion, but I think you’re both right and wrong here. There’s no question that when adequately developed, a properly set up electric drivetrain will blow the doors off most any ICE setup.
But, for decades, there will still be enthusiasts who will still love a fire breathing V 8. I’m all for electrification, I hope it becomes all it can be. It will do many positive things, one of which is take pressure off said fire breathing V8s which are targeted by some now for extinction. We enthusiasts who love such powerplants make up what, maybe a tenth of a percent of the general car buying public? The rest want reliable appliances and I think that’s GREAT. When 99% of cars on the road are electric, no one will give a rats ass about the emissions coming from the few enthusiasts ICE vehicles left on the road. Gas will be available for decades also, and when demand shrinks, price may drop as well, so we’ll still be able to drive our cars. I’d buy a TRX if I wanted it, not for resale value but to enjoy it, but I’ll bet you real money that they hold their value pretty well for a long time to come. Just my opinion, so time will tell. But don’t count out good V8s just yet The myriad of uninspiring and wheezing turboed 6s and 4s, sure. But a well sorted normally aspirated or supercharged V8? Nah. There’ll be demand for those for a long time yet.

I love the sound and feel of a V8, no doubt. I am going to purchase a convertible mustang GT or if I find the right one... almost had it, Red convertible low mileage Snake... I will buy soon.

The wrangler 392 is just plain awesome and a gift for us from Jeep engineers... hope it’s in the JT soon but if not, we’ll there is always aftermarket.

If that’s what you are going for, the golden age of the V8 to keep in the garage to enjoy that lusty throaty sound, do it. I wouldn’t buy for resale.

That is my point except the resale, good luck with that. Agin if you can afford it and it is how you “invest”... vehicles I don’t consider a monetary investment... they are most typically a depreciating asset, especially if you are going to drive and Enjoy. I drive and enjoy.

I'll gladly take an electric truck over a bigger gas guzzler. I'm going to sit on my Max Tow until there is a hybrid or full electric version of a Mojave, then i'm upgrading to that vehicle.

There was some hyperbole in his opening post... the Mojave has only been available for 1 year, so thats 1 year of "depreciation" not 2.
