I have to admit that Rain Gear cover looks nice. But for the record, I've used my Mopar cover for a few weeks at a time in California and Florida and had no problems. Easy to put on. Great coverage. Never had much water get in past where my slider push the cover out from the edge of the front door. A little tight with the soft top still on underneath it, but it fit. Definitely can do the job for you.

I use the Master Top weatherproof cover and it works great. It's the same heavier material as an outdoor car cover, so you can leave it on long term.

Due to the lack of a solid roof under the trail cover, rain water can pool instead of running off, which can be an issue in a heavy rain.

Another option......

We have two of these (with the sidewalls) behind the metalworking shop to store project Jeeps. They have held up fine to all the weather, wind, etc....

In combination with one of the covers discussed here, or a tarp as mentioned, you'd have double the protection. Still cheaper than building a steel carport.

A boat cover support pole between the center console and the top works great for preventing water pooling.

The instructions with the Jeep brand cover suggest using a towel wrapped around the roll bar.

I have a Rain Gear and I love it. It does an excellent job of keeping things dry. It will not prevent critters from climbing in and having a good time. I can't speak for the Jeep cover, but it covers basically the same way. The Rain Gear has cutouts that allow for hinge mounted and lower A-post mounted mirrors when the doors are off. Like others have said, I can have my soft top or hard top on with the doors on or off and still use the cover. As long as the soft top is unfolded, there's no sag at all.

It took a lot of towel to prevent the water from pooling with my JL.

What worked better for me were a couple 4" foam balls, one on each side (sorry, no pics).

I contacted both Raingear and Bestop. Raingear's response noted concern about water pooling and subsequently stretching the straps and stitching (easily remedied). The material itself is UV protected.

I haven't heard back from Bestop yet.

Thanks for the responses.
