I have experienced the same clunking noise as well. Haven’t received any notices. I have “Launch” model. Can I expect one or should I take to a dealer?
If you are questioning whether or not your vehicle is included in the recall, you can enter your VIN at the following link: https://www.mopar.com/en-us/my-vehicle/recalls/search.html

However, if you are experiencing abnormal sounds that you are concerned about, I recommend visiting your dealer.

Every time I hear noises or feel clunks thumps and vibrations, I've learned to turn the radio up and give it a little more gas. Man that stereo sounds good.

Haha, my wife does the same thing. 'Ain't no problem if you can't hear no problem.' Then when it breaks it is my problem and have to fix it

This was my concept when driving my $4,000 XJ's, squeeks, rattles, exhaust, sticky lifters, piston slap, rod knock, it didn't have any of that....OR maybe it had all of that and my speakers drowned it out. hahahaha. The problem is now when adding a zero to that cost, brand new and never even having it off road yet, I do not think this is the best concept. Haha

Mine does it all the time.... But I have to say, I really didn't notice it when I first got the Jeep.
One day, with about 2K on the OD, I put it in reverse and it went, CLUNK...

I thought, that's a lot of slop in the drivetrain for a new vehicle...

Until you mentioned this, and now the recall, I was thinking it was just how it's designed...
Now I know I was not correct in my thinking...

Parts on order. Sounds like they are going to change the complete driveshaft..
I also got the "CLUNK" starting at 2000 miles, every time "cold" start up shifting from P to R. Was there any special complaint that you used when telling the stealership, that got them to give in and order parts? I was going to wait to 7500 mile oil change, but my 55mph harmonic hum/vibe has now added the "CLUNK" P to R. So, if you have some magic buzz terms, I may bring her in soon. Thx

Mine also "clunks" when shifting from Park to Reverse. It did not do that during the first 1000 miles but started doing that thereafter. Minor -- for now.

Interesting. This is the first that I’ve heard a driveshaft would be ordered since the announcement of the recall.
From what I understand, that have a list of suspect shafts and the trucks they were installed on. With the monoblock/ carrier bearing being sealed, there is no way to inspect it. So they will simply replace all suspect shafts, defective or not.

Since FCA is replacing some shafts, I figure they will be replacing many unnecessarily. Admitting the mistake means it is better to err on the side of caution now rather than try to cheap out and replace a minimal few.

Remember the air bag recalls that affected so many manufacturers and models. Frankly, the explosive air bag in my 2012 jk was a much larger concern than this. That took a LONG time to get the replacement from the supplier and was so much more of a risk to life and face. I’m quite satisfied with FCA’s response so far regarding the shaft issue.

Warranty work? Do please, tell
Didnt want to hijack the thread haha just some plastics that popped off, and one that had a broken clip. Im a stickler for the details when theyre on the hook to pay for it to be corrected. Also getting them to mount and balance my new tires on rubi take offs...apparently no non-dealer shop locally has the "programming" to adequately code TPMS and/or balance the wheels correctly.

Has anyone noticed when putting gear from Park to drive or reverse if you hear a clunk or roughness? Is this normal?
I have the same clunk shifting from park to reverse. I also have clunk when the transmission downshifts from third to second and again from second to first while slowing to stop. I took it in the the dealer and got the "that's normal" routine. I filed a complaint and they are "researching" the problem but no results yet. That is NOT a normal condition and I will not accept that statement. Hoping to get some help soon. That is a very good transmission but Jeep software has screwed it up. Thanks Jeep!

I took the vehicle in to the dealer shop and they ran all sorts of tests to come to the conclusion that the transmission was "operating as designed". I took my case to the general manager of the dealership and long story short, got the same answer. The major response by them was that Jeep had no history of complaints and therefore had no repair in place nor any interest of finding one if there was only a few complaints. I would ask those that are having this same "clunk" problem to visit their dealership and get it on record as a problem. I had already filed a complaint with Jeep and got a case number, but it was closed based on the dealer findings.

I will be taking mine in next week to get looked at. Mine is bad enough now that it does it almost everytime after being in park and it started clunking while the transmission downshifts

Some slop in the drive train is normal. I believe it is ok to hear a clunk going from reverse to forward. I can get my manual Rubicon to make a clunk noise if move quickly from reverse to forward with a "dumping" of the clutch approach..., however, it should not clunk or have excessive slop going between forward gears.
