So at almost 50k I’m kicking around the idea of doing a drawing and fill, don’t really wana drop the pan and replace the filter. Has anyone done the same?

Finding anyone who can do something right today is totally amazing, shocking, even. And yes, if a dealer does it, at least you have warranty. These quicky places and some independents scare me.
Now that I can't lay under a vehicle, I'll likely let a lot of things go a lot longer.........
This week, my wife's JLU goes back because the Total Truck place our dealer had install the power steps totally f'd things up and now has to pull them off again and replace the rocker panel strips, reinstall interior trim and replace the switch bracket that they did NOT take out of our other Jeep like they were told to.
Morons. Can't get anyone to do things correctly - in this case, they didn't even follow the directions with the steps!

I guess I need to give away most of my engine equipment, a 343 engine, a stack of NOS seat upholstery and pallet shelves full of parts so I have room for a lift.

Personally, my problem isn't getting under the vehicle. It's getting back up!

For me, it literally makes me physically sick - really sick. Lost left side inner ear function. Can't lay down and work on things. Can't move up and down without getting sick.

Wow, sorry to hear that, especially for a person like yourself used to moving around physically alot.

As you mentioned, it may be time to consider a lift in your garage. I know they can be pricey but at least you can get back to what you enjoy doing.

I'm in a somewhat similar situation with my boat, a 23' Boston Whaler Center Console. Since falling and braking both my hip and the tibia bone in the lower leg, trying to squeeze into the storage area in the boat where I kept my fishing rods and gear is now virtually impossible. Not painful, just lacking a lot of the mobility I once had with all the titanium in the left leg (wife says I'm worth more now if I am melted down ...lol). So I have to sell my Center Console and get a Walk-Around type boat which is much easier to access the storage area.

Anyway, we have to deal with things as life goes on and realize we have to make those adjustments when things change. Keep the faith.

Be ready for me posting a "fire sale" of things, equipment, tools, boring bar, line hone, cam bearing installer, head CC'ing tools, AMC parts and more including Jeep and other transfer cases, 258 engine parts, a 360 and 343 engine with NOS high compression pistons.
Having worked on cars since I was 14 in the early 70s, it's time to shift gears, so to speak. Do what I can, get rid of things related to what I can't do.
I can't even work under my Javelin to pull the trans pan and replace the selector shaft and TV shaft seals.

Luckily I have under 10,000 miles on my JT so it will be years before I need to even think of transmission work on it!

At 74 I am struggling some. Early signs of Parkinsons possibly. I just did the trans pan R&R and it about killed me but I got it done without help. I just go slow. I did the complete suspension on my JT twice alone in my garage. before that I did my '14 JK twice. I've done trans changes and clutches. Had a CJ7 that I almost did a. complete rebuild. Just loosing desire to do it any more. A GX550 is in my future. .

If you do it the way you prescribe you won’t be able to replace the filter.
it’s really not that hard of a project to do if you take your time. It’s even easier if you have someone help you lower the pan to reduce spilage.

For me, it's different - it's simply not possible. I get down and start working and on comes the migraine, dizziness and nausea. It's not a matter of taking my time, in fact, the longer I'm under a vehicle, the worse it gets.
Unless you have this - there's no way to relate. It's not the same as just being old with arthritis and so on. You literally get physically ill. It takes hours or even a day or two to recover.
If it wasn't for this issue, I'd still be working on and under things. But getting sick and being laid up for a full day unable to do anything after trying - ain't worth it.
I have the desire.

I’ll happily come pull that trans pan for you when I’m in the area later this year. Happily. Treat me like a laborer. Just tell me how you want it done.

It's a '22 diesel. Just need the filter. Not the whole kit.
I just did a write-up on this. The Transmission Oil Filter is the same for all Gladiators with either the 8HP50/850RE or the 8HP75 automatic transmission.

I can't explain why MOPAR doesn't associate the part number for the Transmission Oil Filter (68417054AB) with the EcoDiesel. As you know, MOPAR websites will say that it doesn't fit an EcoDiesel. Then they turn around and sell you the kit (68362041AC), which includes exactly the same filter, without any such warning.

This issue may occur whether your vehicle is gas or diesel, but the same rule applies: If the kit fits, then the filter fits.

It is possible that the product manager at MOPAR who is responsible for this part did not set up the product correctly in their database, but this is just speculation.

This is not just FCA. I can point to such things for decades in parts books, web sites, and more. If you knew what it took to manage such info.. ....
I've found mistakes in Timken bearing listings, National seals...many more
