Sounds like I need to ask them for something to play with while I wait, never driven a hemi. Not sure I want to though, wanting one of those engines can be costly....
So far, I always get a loaner when having warranty work done, unless it'll be an hour. The dealership want to shuttle me to work at 630am.

The dealer offered me a loaner due to the time it took to do the work (7 hours or so), and, I'm leveled on both ends and running after-market stabilizer and 35's and they never questioned that at all.

My parts came in this week. I have my appointment scheduled for Thursday. I cannot wait for this work to be completed and to feel the difference. I am curious which loaner I will be given as they told me it could take them the weekend to complete the work with how busy they are. I will post my thoughts after the work is completed.

Good to hear they typically give out loaners, though I am surprised they didn't say they gave loaners when I made a joke about towing another car there to drive after dropoff. Guess I will just need to press the item a little bit

I took mine in today for the TSB and Drive Shaft Recall. They had to order the drive shaft, should be here tomorrow. They have to order the steering box. He said they get to order six at a time, and the next order date is 10/31. Besides mine, he knew there were at least three others waiting on them. They did provide a vehicle to drive. They pay the daily base fee for a Enterprise Rental. I opted to pay the daily $17 for the walk away insurance.

Ahhhh, let’s talk more about tHe drive shaft recall. Did I miss something? BTW, got a Dodge Journey as my loaner. That’s all my dealer gives out.

The drive shaft recall is from about a year ago. Anyone involved got a letter from Jeep. It also shows up on the website and in the app. A run of drive shafts were not properly greased, and they are just being replaced. I was in no hurry to get it done, and figured they would have done a few by now. The service advisor said this is their first one.

Here is my review of the TSB Steering work that was performed on my Gladiator.

First, the good news. There is definitely a significant difference in how the vehicle handles after the work is performed. The steering, like others have said, feels much tighter and responsive. The vehicle does not sway or wander down the road, especially at high speeds, like it would prior to this work.

Second, the not so good news. Now, clearly, every dealer is going to be different. While my experience with my dealer started out great and pain free; it did not end that way. The work took a little over 8 hours (two business days to complete). They called me the following day to let me know my vehicle was ready to pick up. After signing on the dotted line and driving home, I immediately noticed that something did not feel right. After driving for a few hundred feet I could immediately see the issue. My alignment was so far out of adjustment the vehicle was very difficult to drive. I was able to get it home and read over the paper work for what was completed. It stated that an alignment was performed after the work was completed. I started to investigate the work performed. I could see the new steering gear in place as well as the replace bolts. Upon closer inspection I found power steering fluid that had spilled/leaked all over the differential and steering components. After getting the vehicle off of the ground, I was able to check the "alignment" work that was performed and honestly all I can say is, whoever performed this work must have been blind, half asleep, or drinking on the job. Nothing was in spec according to the manufacturer's recommendations.

I made the decision to clean up their work on my own, hence why it has taken me a week to post my review of this work. I have aligned the vehicle myself back to factory specs and confirmed that the power steering fluid I found underneath was just spilled and is not actually leaking from any components, at least that I can tell thus far.

My overall opinion is that this TSB is definitely worth the work, but just like with most work involving the dealer, be ware! If I could have figured out a way to do the work myself and still have FCA cover the costs I would have gone that route. I will definitely enjoy the tighter steering and more confident control I have over the vehicle. Hope this helps. :like:

Back in the dealership shop after the tsb, as over bumps at highway speed causes the steering wheel to shake and wobble.

There is a tsb for the tightness in the steering wheel dampener. Mine had failed with 6k miles on the odometer.

The tsb is 19-002-19.

Maybe I got lucky, IDK, but I've never had any issue with the steering on my JT. Took delivery in July of '19. I can take my hand off the wheel and it tracks true. Bumps, no different that any other vehicle I've ever owned (including 7 GC's, the current one a 2019 Ltd...).

Dropped mine off at 8:00AM , picked up before noon, just changed the box, no alignment needed, took about 2weeks to get the parts .

Got mine done today. I mentioned the TSB at My last oil change and they said no problem we will order the parts. It took about seven weeks for them to come in. I will let you know how it feels after a little time on the highway.

Hello all. Regarding the "improved service bulletin" replacing the steering gear and updated software, for those who have had this done at a jeep dealer, is this covered under warranty?
My Gladiator goes in tomorrow for this issue and was curious if I'm in for a fight on getting this procedure covered for free?
Thank you, Gary Ameling
