Vlad emits a strong diesel odor cold or hot but sometimes when upon cold-start, it will reek of raw diesel fumes entering the cabin thru the vents. I have to open the windows immediately. Now - I understand older diesels have a strong diesel odor, but newer "clean diesels" like my Sprinter 3500XD have no diesel smell at all, ever! Is this normal for the Ecodiesel? I know the cabin issue is not normal and will have addressed at 1st service, but is the general "stinky" normal for this 3.0 Motorventuri unit? TIA PS: Great vehicle otherwise! The diesel makes it much more of a brute of a gentleman's truck!!

I have no smell with mine. How many miles you have on it?

I have over 30k miles on mine and haven’t yet experienced what you describe. Sometimes I can smell the DEF a little immediately after startup as it is warming up but definitely not strong or overwhelming in the cab.

If you think it is a leak, be careful checking around the high pressure lines and connections when it is running. Don't get near them with fingers. You really don't want diesel injected deep into your flesh. I recall something about using paper/cardboard to find high pressure leaks that you can't see. Or let the shop figure it out.

High pressure fluid will cut through skin and bone.

Ever use Castrol Bean oil in a 2 stroke? If you did, you will never forget the smell. :CWL: Used to use it in my racing 2 stroke bikes.

I used the TCW3 two stroke oil in my Duramax. A 1/2 ounce per gallon was enough for that 2006 motor with no emissions crap on it.

My 01 dodge Cummins has 258k on it and still going strong! It has had the one OZ per gallon treatment, since I bought it. It stinks and is noisy but still a good workhorse.
