Creating this as a place holder for now. I currently have a 2022 Mojave, here is my build thread.

I am fine with my current Mojave, I really like it a lot. But I would like to replace it with one that has all the options I now know that I really want. I know that some folks here have been able to make several modifications to add options their Gladiator did not came with from the factory... but there are some that I want that it is just technically impossible to add now.

I have had my current Mojave for almost two years (well, a year and 8 months). During this ownership I have realized that I really like it a lot and do not want to move on to another vehicle. In the past, I would tend to change vehicles often... not getting any younger and realizing that the Gladiator is one of those vehicles that can make me happy for a long, long time... "Yeah Wachuko, but you are changing it"... I know, I know... but for the same vehicle, just newer and with more goodies.

I know that I am going to take a significant financial hit, but I want many of the comfort features now available.

I would like to have:
  • Front facing camera
  • Adaptive cruise control (meaning, the Technology Group package)
  • Blind spot monitoring (meaning, the Active Safety Group package)
  • Factory auxiliary switches
  • Heated seats and steering wheel (meaning, the Convenience Group package)
  • Alpine Stereo with the wireless speaker
  • Factory front and rear steel bumpers (Steel Bumper Group package)
  • Factory tow package
  • Leather seats*
  • Spray-in Bedliner *
  • All-Weather Slush Mats*
  • 8-Speed transmission*
  • Hardtop*
* I have these now

Comparing building a base Mojave versus going with the Mojave X, the Mojave X actually comes out to less (just by a couple hundred dollars) than the base Mojave with the options that I want. Plus the Mojave X has the painted fenders and roof. I really do not care for the additional painted parts, but hey, for the same price I would take them!

I did stop by the dealer today to compare colors. They only had a 4-door Wrangler in the Anvil Clear color, so I parked my Gladiator close to it to compare the colors.

Jeep Gladiator Wachuko's 2024 Mojave X Build Thread Anvil comparison-2

In terms of what I have on the Jeep now, I should be able to move over almost everything to the new one:

  • Roll-N-Lock M-Series XT Retractable Truck Bed Cover (496M-XT)
  • Pull handles
  • Hood struts
  • Midland MXT275 GMRS radio and its antenna
  • Front/Rear Dash Camera
  • NOCO GENIUS5, 5-Amp Automatic Smart Charger/Tender 6
  • Go-Rhino XRS Cross Bars - Bed Rail Kit for Full/Mid Sized Trucks W/Tonneau Cover T-Tracks and side rail accessory kit
  • Sunrider for Hardtop
  • N-Fab (RKR) rock rails with the four N-Fab steps

The only things that would have to stay with the current ride are:

  • BOLT hood lock
  • Mopar lockable fuel cap
  • Shorty antenna
  • Bulletpoint RubiGrid Dash Mount platform - no sense removing since I can't use it in the new one. Next owner can benefit from having it there
  • Aluminum front bumper with winch. Not going through the trouble of taking out any of this. Reason why I want the metal bumpers in the new one.
  • Oracle rear bumper LED reverse lights
  • Mud-flaps
  • Cool (for me at least) JW decals on the doors :)

Once I have it... I want to install what I kept from the current one and add the following:

That is all for now... if all goes well, I should be able to make the change towards middle of next month...

Not looking forward to removing the mounting plate 🤣 .

I was planning on leaving all that mounted as I really did not wanted to go through the work required to remove it.

I am really thinking of leaving all that in there... Whenever I get serious about taking it off-roading, I will buy the mounting plate kit and a new winch... Almost two years with my current Jeep and I have not even taken it to the local Ocala National Forest trail... the shame, the shame.. 😟😔

I am still thinking on what to do on this... still thinking...

Well, on second thought, I just priced that mounting plate kit… yeah, I will be removing it along with the winch…

Dealer could care less about it in the trade-in and it is over 1k to redo it later…

Congrats on making the switch. Get that trail cam as I still want one on mine but the trouble to add it is much. Here in Calif we get punished a lot when we change. A full 10%+ on sales tax for the full price of the new one. Then Reg and insurance. My reg is $750 a year.

I'm in a similar boat. I was anti-X initially but as time has progressed I've realized it's the only option I'm considering. Having the factory steel bumpers front and rear and the upgraded front springs saves me a bunch of money in stuff I'd do anyway, and like you said optioning out the other stuff on a base just makes the X the rational choice over the base Mojave.

There is also one major feature that cannot be retrofitted (that I'm aware) is the SelecTrack full time 4wd. That is one feature I really wanted and part of why I didn't get a 2023- builds past March or so didn't have it available.

I also didn't expect the power seats to be so much more comfortable than the standard seats. Granted, the regular Mojave seats are light years beyond the other specs but the new power seats are just what this lumbar disc bulging middle aged doofus needs to make this a proper daily driver. Just need the rates to come down a bit and a couple deals to close first.

Keep the winch plate. Even if you don’t use the winch regularly, it’s insurance. By the way, let me know when you’re ready to check out the Ocala NF. We just moved to Florida from Colorado, and I’m looking for an opportunity to do some exploring

Well... stopped by the dealer to compare colors... I was still trying to decide between Anvil and Granite... Still prefer the Anvil.

Jeep Gladiator Wachuko's 2024 Mojave X Build Thread New Jeep Gladiator-2

I was not going with the idea of buying today... but the sales guy insisted... so I get the deal, we went very little back and forth. I gave them Affiliate Program number in case it helps with the deal.

I agree to the out the door price and quickly get on my phone and I get a loan approved with my bank at a much lower rate. Not an amazing rate at 5.54% @ 72 months... but lower than what the dealer was offering.

I show them the approved loan, ask them if they can match it... they can't. Here is weird part, the dealer would not sell me the the truck at the agreed out the door price unless I accepted their higher finance rate...

Goes without saying that I walked away.

I agreed to the out the door price... what the heck! And they are refusing to do the deal unless I finance with them at 7.49% rate when I already have the loan approved at 5.54%!! I don't get it.

Obviously they are making money on the financing and are not willing to let that go.

I know that they can do the deal, they are just refusing to do so.

I know I was not being unreasonable. This was one of the dealers in Orlando, since I was there visiting my kids.

Anyway, I will go to the other dealer near me here in Ocala.

Also started to remove the stuff from my existing Gladiator...

Jeep Gladiator Wachuko's 2024 Mojave X Build Thread My Jeep - removing 1

Removed:
  • Pull handles
  • Midland MXT275 GMRS radio and its antenna
  • Go-Rhino XRS Cross Bars - Bed Rail Kit for Full/Mid Sized Trucks W/Tonneau Cover T-Tracks and side rail accessory kit
  • Sunrider for Hardtop
  • N-Fab (RKR) rock rails with the four N-Fab steps
  • Hood struts

Still need to pull out
  • Roll-N-Lock M-Series XT Retractable Truck Bed Cover (496M-XT) - ran out of daylight today...
  • Front/Rear Dash Camera - will remove at the time of buying the new one...
  • NOCO GENIUS5, 5-Amp Automatic Smart Charger/Tender 6 pig tail
  • Winch/mounting plate...

Some dealers just get greedy thinking they are going to be able to push everybody into their nickel and dime scheme, but good on you for walking away

I hope the deal works out for you. Spent my life in Central Florida and learned my lesson on car dealerships over that life span. I refuse to buy a new vehicle from certain ones, just not worth the back and forth hassle.

Lakeland CDJR is the closest you are going to get to actually getting a good deal on a Jeep. I bought my last Jeep from Seminole CDJR and felt like I got a deal, not expecting what they told me over the phone to be true when I walked in the door. I was pretty happy.

They thought they were going to get you but they weren’t going to let a deal walk, so I’m glad you walked when you did and end up getting the deal, congratulations

Credit goes to the sales guy. He took it up with the GM this morning to get the approval.

I am just happy it was done. To top it off, it is my birthday today… so double celebration!! Woohoooo!!!
