Question:
This auto parts store said they could order filters for $14ish. The filter does not come with the filter cap. If the filter cartridge or element can be removed and a new one be installed is there an issue?

I use Amsoil and an Ecogard filter, for my diesel. Works just fine for me…

Guys, you cannot, I repeat cannot use the older filters and cap on the new EcoDiesel gen 3. They are totally different. FCA has put out service bulletins to there dealers on this. The filter is a different diameter and height and the bypass valve is totally different. If you use the older filter you will actually be bypassing the filter and putting "contaminants" into your sump. The older filter is not even the same connection points in the cap. If you cannot get a filter from your dealer use the only other filter on the market the ECOGUARD S11880. I truly believe they are the same filter. Both are made in the same plant in Asia. I have used the mopar and ecoguard and they came in the same box!!

Glad I got mine changed two weeks ago. Thanks for the information. Hopefully they clean this up.

A lot of these filters and oils I see people using are not compatible or poor quality Chinese filters that are going to allow damage in the long run. ?ā€ā™‚

This is my most surprising post to date. 2021 Gladiator Rubicon Ecodiesel. I have been getting appointments throughout the west in an attempt to get an oil change for a month now. Each time I sit around for an hour while they search databases for nonexistent oil filters. Jeep Cares has been working the case. Yesterday they said that even if I could find a filter, oil simply is not available.

Today Jeep said, not only are there over 8,400 people looking for oil filters, there’s no oil anywhere, oh, and fuel filters aren’t available either. They will tell you that they are on ā€œback orderā€ and they even have ā€œshipping datesā€ but the last two shipments that were said to have oil filters didn’t actually have them.

This is crazy

Hope the factory ones I ordered from a dealership and are also stamped China came from the higher quality side of the factory.

On the oil note, AAP has Fram 5w40 diesel oil with CK-4 and SN rating. Not familiar with this brand of oil, but it could be a contender.

It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. The potential for a shortage causes the purchase of extra product, creating a shortage.

There are going to be some supply issues until the country is back to working normally, but there should be enough of most items to go around.

I never ran out of toilet paper, even though the stores did for a while, because we have always kept extra on hand. I bought ahead on oil and filters, while it was less expensive, because I could see this possibly happening due to the current administration's attitude towards petroleum.

You want oil? I have oil all over my garage floor from a 2022 Jeep Gladiator Diesel. This oil leaking piece of garbage has been bleeding oil since I picked it up on 12/31/21. I have had it in my possession a grand total of 11 days.
Paid $74563 for the worst vehicle I have ever owned in my life. Has 659 miles on it. In the dealership now with coolant & oil leaking out of it. No idea when it will be returned. Not this week according to the dealer.

You should really get that cleaned up so someone doesn't slip.
