LS swap here we come. Don't know if I can wait for the 3.6 to go though.
I do think the hemi is nice for the purist, and I’d love to claim to be one. But the price for a hemi swap is just nuts. I’ll definitely look into LS as an option.

Once a vehicle odometer hits the 85K mark, banks will hardly let you borrow money to buy. Dealers don't want them.
Not true of pickups around here. Dealers are eager to buy them. They want them. They were fighting over my F250 when I wanted to trade it in (granted years ago, but it still applies to trucks around here). It had about 85K on it and it was one of those special things the dealer was doing where they invited other wholesale buyers in to compete for your trade.
Mine was in that stall for quite a while and the sales guy came back out and said there was a bidding competition going on for my trade, and even offered me a better deal than they had previously told me.
Sales of used trucks with high miles here are no big deal. I've looked at used trucks on the lots with some hefty miles, even some defects in the interior, and they are getting some decent prices for them.
Maybe for cars - yeah, but around here, used trucks and used Jeeps continue to demand $$ even with some miles on them.

Toyota gets it. Look at the pivot they did with the new Land Cruiser. Why would I want a loaded Grand Cherokee with its outdated styling once Land Cruiser production gets moving?

The rest of the market that keeps raising MSRP is about to get caught with their pants down.
Why would I want a Toyota when the Grand Cherokee is less expensive, comes standard with so many things and is a proven, reliable vehicle (that trounced other higher end SUVs in snow tests).
The WK2 styling may be old - but so what? To this day, other companies still seem to try to make their own so-called "SUVs" resemble the Jeep line.
So you buy based on how old the styling is, regardless of what's under the skin?
I guess Madison Avenue is correct.

So in essence, they don't care what is happening in the current market. Then a few months later these same people are either posting saying "good bye", or trading in because they are having mechanical problems.
Can't include that latter group as that's a totally unforeseen reason for the trade or dumping of the vehicle. The intent was likely still there, and to hang on to a vehicle that's causing major issues on a constant basis is silly just because of what was said the year earlier.
It's the intent - and they intended to keep it, but they ain't stupid enough to keep something that's coming apart when they need reliable. In my case - I'd actually go back to another JT if mine suddenly turned lemon on me. If the engine goes next month, then the transmission 2 months later, then the FAD breaks and parts start falling off - I blame that one single instance of the vehicle, and would get another Gladiator.
I don't care what's happening in the current market - I'll care when circumstances for me change - either my needs change, or this one falls apart, but my intent is to stick with this one until something changes.

LOL - griping over the cost increases of new vehicles as if it's a first world issue and the highest inflation of any consumer product out there!

Check this out - The groceries that Kevin bought in 1990 cost $19.83
Last year, 2022, the same list would cost $44.40
Wait for it - from 2022 to this year, just one year later, the same groceries that cost $44.40 would now cost you $72.28

That's an increase of $27.88!
Has the Jeep price increased by over 50%?
Is a Jeep that was $60K a year ago now $100K?
No, then what are we bitchen about?
Something we want instead of something we really need on a weekly basis?
People are griping about the wrong things. They can live just fine without a Wrangler or Gladiator, but seems to me a family sort of needs the milk and bread........ (not necessarily the pack of army men)
Not a word has been said about insurance costs, grocery costs, necessities, or how a roll of TP has shrunk in size in the last 2 years, nope, we're complaining about an unnecessary thing.

Would the JL/JT sell as well if it was styled like a Grand Cherokee? Styling is important to the market.

In any case, the main point I was trying to make was Toyota is smart to reset the new LC at a lower base MSRP than the old model in this market. They could have easily gone the opposite direction and raised the base MSRP over the previous version so that all the ones on the lot were over $100K.

LOL - that one came from outer space somewhere. Yes, style does sell - but the Grand Cherokee is still selling like hotcakes here. They are literally everywhere and one driveway not far from us has two of them.
If a JL was styled like a GC, it would be a GC, would it not?
BTW - the WK2 lineup gave way to the WL lineup so we can't say nothing changed. They are different. Further, since the Grand Cherokee is still a very good seller, especially around here, why mess with it too much and possibly take a step backwards?

I do - gotta keep the coon population in check. I'm winning - haven't seen any sign of one for 2 months now, and the traps remain empty, even with fresh bait. I think I've finally gotten them under control.
Good luck with that, just takes a year of slacking and the population will be back... and smarter ?

Hey, I seem to have stuck a nerve here, sorry. They've all looked the same to me since 2011, but I guess I'm not their target market with that styling.

LS swap here we come. Don't know if I can wait for the 3.6 to go though.
The LS swaps are too involved. I had several 5.9's and a 5.7 both would be more than adequate and not require new axles or axle shafts to hold the power. Both types of engine upgrades of either type as I understand it require different transmissions which will also require new driveshafts. But jumping all the way up to that LS and then using it beyond a DD will require way more to be done including suspension.
That's why I really wish to remain with 3.6L and 850RE and just build them back refurbish etc.. . If I upgrade anything it will be CV joint front axles . Probably RPC axles from RPG off road .

Then you would probably shit your panties on the stash I have.
Now I know I am not the only guy thinking like this.
One thing that prompted my decision is the fact that I am forced to use mine for work. I currently have 85,000+ and yearly I am putting 25,000+ on it . The only way to sustain it is to have a stash .

I love the old regular (non-Grand) Cherokee with the boxy styling, so I guess that's why I'm partial to the look of the new Land Cruiser. I think the new Land Cruiser is going to put some downward pressure on the market for MSRPs for anything remotely similar, but who knows.

Stellantis will run Jeep ,Dodge and Chrysler right into the ground. He must be a total idiot !! Supply vs demand is so out of wack. They don’t even need to produce 24s. Come out with a 25 early with some real changes. Stellantis has killed Jeeps value . Ford must be getting a good laugh over this fiasco !!

Just because something sells, doesn’t make it good. Ford is the perfect example of something crappy that’s well marketed to the customer base, so still sells well. Jeep is no different, except for the crappy part. :)
