If you're thinking about starting to turn your own wrenches, this is a relatively easy place to start, provided you have the tools/space/time. One afternoon and you'd have all that done.
This.

$150 for harbor freight tools
~$500 for parts (assuming you replace all 4 shocks, one tie-rod end, and just the track bar bushings) You could buy a whole new track bar if you want to add more money.

Went to go from the Factory K2 Mudders - to the BF Ko3s - while inspecting doing alignment (I have 40k on vehicle). They said play in tire rod near gearbox. Trax Bar bushing are out, and that my front right shock is leaking fluid.

Being Quoted about 1632$ all in (taxes) to do those 3 things. That sound right? Think I could delay the shock fix a few months? I called Dealer and nothing covered under my warranty (certified preowned 100k).
With all this going on it looks like it’s time to go full on coilover, 40”, and long arms. Hate to say it but wattayagonna do, right? If a significant other asks, it’s all maintenance to keep it running properly.

It wouldn't surprise me.

Three of the four stock shocks on mine were pissing fluid by 25K miles. The stock drag link was rattling by 35K miles and introducing death wobble.

Easy upgrades to do on your own.

I wouldn't recommend OEM shocks, though.
I'm shocked (no pun intended) that the shocks on a Max Tow would be destroyed at 25k miles. Do you do a lot of towing with it? In any case, I would think that the Max Tow would have upgraded shocks, springs and other components as compared to a standard Sport/S.

On my '99 TJ, I got about 8 years on the OEM shocks, put on Rancho 5000's, and they are still on there nearly 20 years later. Not a leak.

I hope the OEM shocks (the red ones) on my JTR last last longer than that. I hope Stellantis just doesn't paint the standard shocks red and make you feel that you are getting something better.

I tow a lot, but nothing heavy.

I chalk it up to road conditions and piss poor parts quality combo.

The roads are so bad in this parish and surrounding areas it should be criminal. The only place I have seen worse conditions is in Manhattan and surrounding boroughs 😂

My understanding is the red shocks are tenneco shocks and are good quality. Going strong on my willys 🤷‍♂️

With 25k miles and most leaking, I don't care, sounds more like piss poor parts quality to me.

For the additional cost for Rubicon and Willys, having a good quality shock, IMO, should be expected. I hope ours both last a reasonable number of years.

I’d gather most of that is going to be labor. Nothing crazy, but just doing control arms and track bar in my XJ took me about 3 combined afternoons. I’m also no expert, so why it took about 6 hours total.

Well first off - Night and Day difference driving on the BF Mudders vrs BF KO3, loving the KO3 its like a brand new vehicle. Here was the report, looks standard. Only thing I want to do those is upgrade shocks to just something that will for sure last longer - beefier shock - would just getting mojave shocks be worth it or something else?

WOW....So it looks like they're saying, Tie Rod, Track bar, and front shock. This sounds extremely high in my opinion. All of these things are completely replaceable by someone with some patience and eagerness to learn. I don't want to assume you enjoy working on your Jeep like I do, but you can save about $700-800 by doing this yourself and end up with a full set of new shocks replacing the old factory burnouts completely. My factory shocks lasted about 60k miles before they were toast. So replacing one at 40k seems like a waste of time if the others are not far behind, not to mention the factory ones are extremely overpriced IMO. Even if you let them do the Tie Rod and Track bar, you'd save money by doing the shocks. Tie rods and track bars can be rough to remove without a pickle fork and a hammer. Shocks are very easy though. I'd also ask what they aligned exactly? Did you have issues with the steering? These shops try to get you to get an alignment everytime you get tires. This is NOT needed with solid axle vehicles. Adjusting toe or the steering wheel is seldom needed unless you have beat the crap out of it and somehow knocked it out of whack.
It's so frustrating how people take advantage of their customers...

Go to my most recent post, and yes I do want to learn and do things myself, I think it was more I just said screw it and do it when I was upgrading my tires type of modes.
