For those with even the slightest interest in Aust pricing (Wrangler for comparison)

That max price on the 4-door Rubicon is still under $49,500 in USD, and with the turbo diesel, something that will be a $3-5000 add-on here. So, a base Rubi JL here is $43k, tack on $3-5k for the diesel and you're at $46-48k, right in your price neighborhood. Considering the JL is built in our backyard and has to get down under, the $1-3,000 difference doesn't seem too bad to me.

Either I've missed something or we are paying $20K more...if you saying $49 and we are $69....
Either way potentially $69K + is eyewatering for a ute

Sorry, I was assuming you were quoting Australian dollars (AUD=.72 USD). If those numbers you gave are in US dollars, then YIKES!

So, if you're paying in Aussie dollars, which are worth $.72 US, then at $69k AUD you are paying $49.5k US, to compare apples to apples. What I was trying ot say is that with the exchange rate, you're paying roughly the same price, give or take a couple thousand dollars, as we do here.

yep i hope the JT doesnt have too much of a price increase over the JL or it will be a bitter pill to swallow & wont sell well
hope its not too much longer before we get US pricing thatll give us some indication what we'll be up for

I have my fingers crossed that I can get a diesel loaded rubi for $60k. I don't have any problem waiting a year or so for the frenzy to calm down.

I am hoping to be able to get a Rubicon, hard top, auto for around $45,000 out the door, or fully optioned with leather, and bumpers for $50k. Much outside of that and I will be looking at a Sport S
That's about where I'm at. Pushing north of $50k, and I'd probably talk myself into a used 2nd gen Raptor. I'm sure I'm somewhat rare in cross-shopping these two, but I honestly wasn't paying super close attention to the JT until I saw the LA reveal.

A stripped down/base SuperCrew Raptor (with no options) is $58K....why would Jeep want to really f**k with the full-size Top Dog?

Misanthrope -- Agree wholeheartedly with your above response about my Raptor comment...

I'm merely suggesting that Jeep take advantage (with their pricing matrix) of being the one mid-sizer that could truly cause Tacoma to quiver...if the JT Rubicon is priced close to the highest trim Tacoma then there will be massive demand for the Gladiators

I honestly, in my Jeep of hearts, believe that FCA doesn't give a rat's ass about Tacoma, Colorado, Ranger or any other "competitor". They plan to sell 100k of these at maximum profit. It's not meant to compete with the midsized p/u class, but rather to establish its own market. If you want an excellent, reliable 4x4 mid sized pickup, then get a Ranger or a Taco. They are great choices and excellent values. I don't think the JT is meant to be a "value", but rather a status/lifestyle vehicle in the vein of the MB Gelandewagen, but for half the price.Have you read all of the press comparing the Wrangler to the GWagen, the Land Rover and the Lexus SUVs? FCA is up marketing these trucks big time, and they see their greatest opportunity here, with the Gladiator.
