i haven't seen these comparisons. Time to bust out another 10 thousand.I honestly, in my Jeep of hearts, believe that FCA doesn't give a rat's ass about Tacoma, Colorado, Ranger or any other "competitor". They plan to sell 100k of these at maximum profit. It's not meant to compete with the midsized p/u class, but rather to establish its own market. If you want an excellent, reliable 4x4 mid sized pickup, then get a Ranger or a Taco. They are great choices and excellent values. I don't think the JT is meant to be a "value", but rather a status/lifestyle vehicle in the vein of the MB Gelandewagen, but for half the price.Have you read all of the press comparing the Wrangler to the GWagen, the Land Rover and the Lexus SUVs? FCA is up marketing these trucks big time, and they see their greatest opportunity here, with the Gladiator.
I wish but I would be shokcked if a fully loaded Rubi wasn't in the mid $50k range.$48,000 fully loaded Rubi. No more than that. I don;t want to have to take a mortgage out to pay for a vehicle.
If I was Jeep I would sue them for slanderFake news (I hope) from the April issue of JP Magazine: "Pricing of $80,000 for the Rubicon and, since pickups are hot right now, around $60,000 for the others..." There's also an ad featuring a rendering of a Gladiator for Atturo Tires with the headline "Every Gladiator Needs A Blade." It's the first ad I've seen with the Gladiator.
I completely agree that Jeep isn't looking at competing with the existing midsize truck market based on price. The JL is more expensive than most other SUVs in the same size with the selling point being the capability, flexibility, and off-road heritage.I honestly, in my Jeep of hearts, believe that FCA doesn't give a rat's ass about Tacoma, Colorado, Ranger or any other "competitor". This from a place that once had a little old tea party when folks were asked too much of.From Boston.com yesterday (admittedly, they are just guessing as well):
"A well-equipped Toyota Tacoma with a V6 engine, quad cab, and four-wheel drive costs upwards of $40,000. Considering the standard four-wheel drive and V6, and then throw in the removable roof, removable doors, and lowerable windshield, and it’s not unreasonable for a Gladiator to start around $45,000 to more than $60,000 for a Gladiator Rubicon."
I will not have you disparage the home of the World Champion Bahstan Red Sawks! This from a place that once had a little old tea party when folks were asked too much of.
And maybe somebody's on the payroll trying to raise price expectations.
Either way is not good.
Yeah I will! Raiders fan here. Snow job. Anyway, why those chowder heads want a high price? Tell bahston com to shattup.I will not have you disparage the home of the World Champion Bahstan Red Sawks!![]()
All I can say is, enjoy your Taco...So much talk about price, so much speculation. What is worse is that everyone is saying "base sport" "nicely equipped Rubi" or "Sport S with a few basic packages" Not only are the prices all over the board but we are not even comparing Apples to Apples. My detailed orientated mind can't handle it. I have resisted sharing my price guess for several months now, however I can't take the waiting or watch you guys talk about it anymore. I also think FCA reads these, not sure our sample size is big enough or representative of a "normal non obsessed buyer" but I really hope those crazy high guess are not invitations to FCA to overprice (part of why I haven't shared my guess).
Well here it goes, here is my build with pricing by line item. I have "some wiggle room", but if FCA gets too crazy over my numbers I am getting a Taco, I will live with the Taco dreaming about the top off, but I will feel better when I remember I can retire a full year or 2 earlier because I didn't pay stupid pricing and invested the extra funds instead. Don't make me take plan B FCA.
Ok, let me have it. Where do you think I am way off? Why do you think that?
