First long road trip. 1000 miles in two days. We were really impressed how comfortable it was. Hit a snowstorm on the way, and it handled it quite well.

Thought I could fill up with gas for $0.29/gal but it was closed . . .

On the down side, got a rock hit at 75MPH. New windshield will be needed. Gladiator duck was not harmed. Any opinions on Safelite vs going thru local Jeep dealer would be appreciated . . .

If you go through Safelite, be sure to request the Jeep Easter egg windshield, or you'll get the standard one, ask me how I know. 😭

Will do. I also bought some rubberized casters for the indoor project. They won’t handle a 1 ton lift plus the weight of the crane like the steel ones, but will handle the loads for this project. The steel casters can go back on once this is over.
Love the ingenuity. Good job saving your back. Wish I was closer to assist.

This time last year I replaced my Gorilla Glass at the local Dealer and it was 1300$. Fortunately USAA covered it and I only had to cover my low deductible.

I'm long overdue for another windshield replacement now, it's been cracked since July or August and it's in 3 pieces now. Life got in the way.

A bit nuts, but a fun story with the kids. They helped me assemble it and learned some basic fastener rules. They’ll never forget the day they helped dad assemble a crane in the house.

I added a warn drill power pullz all yesterday. The ratcheting chain hoist was really slow. Effective, but slow.

The "standard" one is just their house brand. If it's an insurance claim I doubt they will provide a actual Jeep windshield. I went through a different provider and they happened to have one laying around otherwise I would of gotten a PGW windshield.

I was thinking of getting the little T-Rex decal and a gladiator decal and put them in the corner anyway and call it good.

That fuel station is pretty neat.

I don't know about Safelite.
I used an independent installer for both our windshields. I requested OE glass and he obliged. Took a little longer to get the glass vs aftermarket, but it was no big deal.

Last time on this road, the water crossings were so deep we had to go slow and careful. This time, I just rode the ice like a freeway.

…. Be careful going thru mud holes that you could potentially break thru the ice….or don’t go thru a hole that already has big chunks of ice in it.

Big Ice chunks can be awfully damaging….

Back in my wheelin days…. We had a guy go thru a mud hole with ice chunks. A piece of ice got underneath his front bumper and put a hole in the radiator. 😳
